What beer are you drinking now? #1568

Well I had back injections yesterday morning and the steroids had me staying up all night. Martinis, Munich Helles at 3am, Valium and Knob Creek at 4 am, finally deceided sleep wasn't coming went to Dunkin Doughnuts at 5:30 for a decaf and sausage egg and cheese. Just not unwinding a bit at 7am.

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! Need to clean around the apartment today, and probably going to make a trip to the beer store as well.

Fantastic as usual. Flavors of big toasted coconut, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, cream, toffee, dark bread, and light coffee. Light balancing roast bitterness against sweetness. Awesome creamy/silky medium body; light touch of sticky/chalky roast character and dryness. I love this stuff. If I could have bought a case, I would have. At least I have Blackrocks Coconut Brown to get my coconut fix in, when I run out of this. It’s quite similar in a lot of ways.


Still tasting awesome. Glad they changed to 6 packs last year. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pineapple, citrus rind, and pine hops; with moderate caramel, toasted biscuit malt sweetness; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Good sized pine/rind/grassy bitterness. Medium-plus bodied; balanced sticky/resins and creaminess in the mouthfeel. Increasingly resinous and drying. I love how this has a more balanced approach with the malt presence. Feels really juicy. I love Cascade and Centennial.


Awesome brown ale again this year. Flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, maple, toffee, brown bread, nuttiness, toasted oak, chocolate, light coffee/vanilla, and herbal/light peppery hops. Light-moderate herbal bitterness and oak spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus body with nice creaminess and light sticky hop/tannic oak notes in the mouthfeel. Lightly drying from oak and hops. I love this stuff a lot. Great standard brown ale complexity; great oak presence without being too overpowering. I drank a couple 6 packs last year, will have to grab another pack again. This was a single.


2014 I've personally cellared for the full 3 years. Outstanding as expected! Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, raisin, plum, fig, date, apricot, and apple; with moderate malt sweetness of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted biscuit. Moderate pine/rind/peppery bitterness on the finish. Full bodied; balanced sticky/resins and malt creaminess in the mouthfeel; lightly slick. Increasing resin/rind dryness, zero hop astringency. Amazing complexity and balance. Still really hoppy and bitter after the 3 years as expected, but with more dark/stone fruit flavors. Definitely some resiny/spicy hops in this one, they usually changed the hops around every year previously. Really unfortunate they aren't releasing it this year at all, but I can still buy this and 2015/16 on the shelf around here at the moment.

Chilly here - 14 degrees, feels like 5 with wind chill

Went to go outside to take a sunrise pic on my lake - 2 dudes in a fishing boat breaking through the ice at 745 am.....hardcore! I thought I was a crazy boater!!







Just heard from the guy I am getting the free Alacrity sailboat from - he is giving me the 1930's vintage sailing canoe as well....picking it up Sunday!
