Good morning BAs! Starting off to be another nice day here in NW PA - may be sunny for a while. Today's New Breakfast Beer:



Better than I was expecting.

Coffee and coffee. One of those mornings.

 

A stormy morning coupled with a good beer after another busy summer weekend is the perfect Monday remedy. This year's batch looks slightly lighter in color and thin, but loaded with complex barrel notes. I'm going to chill on the porch glider with my buddy Bailey, dissect this beer and watch the rain. Cheers to a new week!

Smelled like it might be off, but tasted fine enough - just very light and quite boring.

 

Having some Finback - BQE to start the day. Nice bourbon barrel aged imperial chocolate coffee stout. Cheers!

Ah, lunch . . . ah, beer . . .





Taste is simple, straight forward and refreshing. I could do with a little less pine and think the brew would be better balanced with jucier hops. What's there is a preponderance of grapefruit zest which combined with pine dominate the flavor profile resulting in a heavier sort of bitterness than I want in what is otherwise a relatively light brew. I find grain present primarily in the body with lingering heavy, but not harsh, bitterness in the aftertaste.

All day IPA with a hop kick. I would prefer more substance in the grain bill but it is what it is so I'll appreciate it as I find it without complaint. It is competently brewed and relatively flawless.

 

Twice the heart for twice the flavor. Hey mikey, he likes it!

Well this is awesome! More Base Camp Helles for Ice Station Zebra! ( I'm ice station zebra because I like that movie and because it used to be so cold up here.)

Pours hazy yellow with a creamy lasting head of foam. Went down with a fight , clinging in spots. Crisp floral, lemon, hop pepper breaddy malt. Drinks with a bright citrusy hop with a crisp floral. Peppery smooth body with just enough bitterness to show you how creamy it is. Smells like dandelions. Stemmy, herbal, clean a touch bitter and malty.

Ok, better than the first beer, but not as good as either Prairie beer I had yesterday:


Coconut and vanilla are light but noticeable, but the base stout has a little more lightly sweet, earthy molasses (sometimes an oxymoron is the best description) than roasted bitterness.
