    A cold frosty morning along the southern shore. The leaves are mostly gone now as are the plants and we now enter that monochromatic time of year. With Black Friday less than two weeks away, it's time to cull the herd. This one was bottled on 17OCT14 and is tasting grand with creamy smooth bourbon, vanilla, a little dark cherry and some oak in the finish. I'm heading down to the cave next to finish the Christmas decorating. Let's have a great week!

    One of the several craft beers I picked up in Ubeda a couple of days ago - "Adoracin", a spiced blonde ale from Sireno Cervezero, Marmolejo (also in Jaen province):



    Lite spicy fruit nose. Clove, cinnamon, sugary and a fruit flavor I can't put my finger on...odd in a good drinkable way, and at least this blonde has some flavour - Cheers!

    We seem to be on a bit of a Porter kick around here . . .

    Deep dark brown color.

    Aroma of roasted malt and medium roasted coffee. There's something in the background giving off a fresh, lively scent which I first thought was hops but later believed it's more like freshly brewed coffee.

    Taste is roasted malt and coffee. That's it but they are clear, distinct and good tasting flavors. I could add roasted nuts but dark malt and coffee cover it pretty well.

    Finished decorating the cave, took the mutts for their walk and now it's time for another beer. I have a few Born Yesterday's in the fridge that need to be consumed. It's still solid and hop forward, but there is more of that classic Lagunita's grapefruit profile emerging. Drink them soon......

    Dogs have been walked and fed; I have a fire going in the kitchen's "wood pellet burning" stove (interesting burner, have not seen one like it before) and another traditional cut logs blaze going in the living room fireplace. Time to ease into the evening with Cream Jerez (19%) and an American style IPA, "Boise" from Bidassoa Basque Brewery, Irun, Spain:



    Skunky lemongrass and caramel nose; Earthy hops, lite bitterness, some lemon rind, and a solid malt base. An ok IPA (6.4%)...actually better than some of the local IPAs I've had in Idaho... Cheers Monday gang!
