NEIPAs. Somehow they have created controversy in the craft beer community. I don't have much to share on the topic, other than to say that I have never obsessively checked the shipping status of anything in my life, like I have for a box full of Tired Hands beers that is coming today.

Good morning BAs! Just drinking 1/2 bottle while I wait for the VNA to call - we need some supplies to dress Mrs. Lizard's surgical wound. Also today's New Breakfast Beer:



Not as sweet as expected from a Southern Tier non-IPA - you can drink this one and not go to the ER in a diabetic coma - guess I shouldn't have loaded up on insulin before I drank this...

 

This is a classic IIPA. It will always be a part of my IPA rotation. Here is a new Dimmu Borgir video!!!!

Iron line Vine Street Junction IPA . . .



Good light gold color with lots of white cap, a few demerits for over foaming.

Light piney, citrusy (grapefruit) scent, with a touch of malt in the background.

Taste on entry is hop forward but not aggressively so, rather mild actually while still retaining elements of citrus sharpness and pine resin firmness. Some malt weaves in and around but is shy about speaking out loud. Flavors are consistent and last into the aftertaste.

Rather light texture, enough to get it past thin but not by far, with balancing carbonation.

It's got the stuff we associate with the style but in a reduced sense, kinda like a junior varsity IPA.

I'm taking a 54 cent gamble this morning drinking this nearly two year old amber lager out of a 66 year old mug. Cook's operated in Evansville, Indiana from 1853 to 1957. This can was contract brewed in LaCrosse, Wisconsin and isn't in the BA database after being out a couple years. I expected an AAL, and I'm actually a little disappointed it's a over sweet caramel lager.

Can't wait for some throwback beers & fine glassware tomorrow! Cheers!
