I’m going with a new to me beer too, @ChicagoJ. One from my first Tavour order, and I’m thinking I’m going to enjoy it (a lot!).

Took the car in yesterday for a factory recall issue, so listened to some WXRT 1983 flashback as well.
Haven’t heard this one in forever.

    This one is a classic.

Happy Sunday, advocates, and while I rarely root for sports teams here, GO PACKERS!

Very nice selections (beer and music). I'm on double secret beer purchase probation at this point, so I'm passing on Abraxas bottles until perhaps next year. I did have my first pours (2018, 2019 and Coffee 2019) at the Beer Temple exactly one year ago this weekend. I did like the Coffee version a bit more, but was very happy with the regular as well.

I don't suspect Lady in Red will be featured the next time 1986 is covered, but you never know. Laughed at Johnny Mars being pissed Biko was one of the few songs on the live album not recorded in Illinois.

Here's another one, saving more for my second beer later today. Cheers!

I just finished my workout and time for a brew. Cracking a Toppling Goliath Zeelander while listening to some old Eddie Money. A match made in Heaven. The laundry can wait...

    Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

[IMG] Good Sunday all. This one is not what I was hoping it would be. It is far from bad, but something I am glad I only got a single of. Cheers all

    And time for a flashback!

One year ago today on WBAYDN
    (#2652: Friday, January 24th, 2020)
    • The thread gets popping early, eventually hitting 14 pages.
    • @scream makes the first documented mention of Coronavirus on the WBAYDN thread. @mickyge is second.
    • Everyone was drinking two-hearted. @meanmutt alone drinks 4 on page 1 of the thread (plus 2 Hopslam!), then reappears 7 hours later to drink several more.
    • Not to be outdone, @VABA downs 7 beers on page 2. We were drinking hard that day for pre-pandemic!
    • @zid pulls off an 8 year Bigfoot vertical.
    • LNBA was in rare form. 6 pages of shit talking after 11pm EST. Not like that much anymore!

This is an outstanding beer, but I think I prefer the "plain old" Ten-Fidy over the BA version......oh well......enjoy what's in your glass....

    Flying Fish Brewing Company
    XPA. 5.2% ABV.
    Citra Pale Ale
    Somerdale, New Jersey

This one is an updated beer from their former xpa from memory which was a darker color and more old school. They even mention it on these that this Citra hopped version is the evolution of that former beer.

Foggy yellow. Off white head. Smells of lemon. Orange. Slight pine. Flavors of orange peel. Pine. Huge lemon candy. General non descript citrus. A bit of that lagunitas style sweetness. Very hoppy but light. Crispy. Great carbonation and head retention. Awesome beer here.

Some facts I pulled from the BA profile :

Malts: Superior Pilsen, Munich, Oats, Wheat, Honey Malt, Vienna Malt
Hops: Warrior, Palisade, Citra, El Dorado
    Yeast: Chico Ale
    Original Gravity: 12.5 Plato
    IBU's: 27

Far from the only coffee and coconut porter/stout nowadays, but one of the first to really nail it.

That's an interesting point that I didn't think about. I had one last weekend and wasn't blown away like I used to be. I'd probably agree that regular Ten Fidy would suit me just fine.

    Cheers!

I remember the first time I had it up here in IL. Did a share and had that and Morning Wood in the same night. I wanna say it was early 2017? We were blown away by both beers.

    Cheers!

    O.K. Beer. 5.6% abv

Brilliant gold. Great color. Picture is natural light. Not edited. Off white head that dissipates to a single splotchy layer. Smells of wet hay. Crackers. Straw. Vines. I’ve read some reviews. I’d agree with parsley. Taste follows the smell. There was upon first sip an underlaying sweetness that tasted like a soft pretzel. There’s is plenty of hop character to notice akin to a German Pilsner level bite. IBU at 40-50? Guessing. Moderately clean. I’ve had cleaner but this is still a clean beer. Full bodied. Full carbonation. The best polish beer I’ve had thus far. amazing actually.

This is 100% not a “polish Budweiser”. This is far better. This is better than Becks, Heineken etc....this is on par with Hofbrau level brewing. Just as good if not better than big name German pilsners. Not kidding. Try this one with an open mind and you’ll be surprised like me. The only thing. Only. Would be I wish the head retention stuck through instead of the lacey ring but that’s only a visual preference of mine.

    @JackHorzempa
If you recall our conversation about this one some weeks back, if you see this one I think you will enjoy it.
