Loved your post yesterday @mschrei ! You grabbed two of my favorite songs from the weekend, and a solid beer to boot. Blues Brothers was also a special dispensation on my end due to the fact it was the first major release from my hometown.

Also, thanks @Greywulfken for tagging me and for your review of the new Hendriks Lunar Gin. My experience with these sort of "special" releases are similar to yours, pricy, typically negligible difference and typically like the OG better. That goes for many beers as well, including Oberon, BCBS and others trying to capitalize on the popularity of the OG base.

Hubbard's Cave Hopsurd



I liked this beer more than I thought I would once I was more observant in the review process than the purchase process to discover this was not an imperial WCIPA but rather a hazy attempt. All in all, more complex, less hazy and sweet than I expected, and rated it a solid beer (4.0).

Thanks for the kind words, @ChicagoJ. Blues Brothers is up there with The Fugitive and Ferris Bueller for best Chicago movies, in my opinion.

Long time want, and since I got a three pack from Tavour, I’m going with the middle vintage on this special day.

I hadn’t heard this song in years, and then I heard it on the radio while we were on the way to my father’s wake back in 2014. I’m glad I was not driving the car at that moment.

The weather around here is crazy. After a good while of hight temperatures, only storms and a bit cold.

Happy Father's day and Sunday BA's! Three hours of OT complete, and the laundry is started. Plan on mowing at 0900 if the rain holds off. Drinking a little out of my usual comfort zone, Journey Work of the Stars a blended barrel aged ale with cocoa nibs. It's from CCB's El Catador Club 12th edition. From CCB's website....A nose of almonds, dark chocolate and brown sugar presents assertively, complemented by fresh roasted coffee and red apple aromas. Butterscotch, milk chocolate, vanilla and chocolate-covered cherries dominate the palate, while wood tannins and the drying sensation of alcohol help add structure and balance to this decadent blended beer. Starting off with juice for breakfast today - Magnanimous Brewing’s “Master of Fists”:



I’m finishing the crowler I opened yesterday. One hour on the counter and it’s 58°. Pineapple and coconut, a beer piña colada. Zero bitterness and yet only semi sweet. Hazies aren’t my thing, but this beer tastes great. Not fluffy nor filling. For me, just right. Cheers and a Happy Father’s Day to all the creators both past and present!

 

That is one heck of a beer! Rain is threatening here in St. Pete so hopefully you can get your yard work done before it gets hotter and stormy. Cheers brother!

 

Thanks Doc, yeah I don't like mowing when it wet but it's 4-5 " tall and I'm afraid if I don't I might get rained out for the next 3-4 days. We're back in NH/MA mid July, I plan on a small haul so we'll have to meet again in late July/Aug if you're not traveling the world......cheers my friend! I'm enjoying the beer as it slowly warms....per your instructions....

My lacrosse team won the regional championship yesterday with a dramatic OT finish. -no state final four this year in any sport
We actually hit the road for a couple of days. -a light lager (in a hotel cup) to start. Cheers

Happy Dad's day and summer solstice today, BA's.....soooooo grateful to be a Dad to my wonderful daughter - who is on her way up from Columbus as we speak....will likely do some sailing / canoeing etc and beer drinking today!
Hard to imagine my own Dad has been gone now for over 35 years - got my love of boats and the water from him for sure! Cheers BA's!

Kane Coastal Plain (Vienna-style Lager, or as they put it "New Jersey Lager").

Last year the brewery I drank the most was Kane (by a ton). Surprisingly, this year I had to go 6 months before I got my first sip of a Kane brew. I'm surprised it took so long.
