And why not? But really, I just want to say how much pleasure that this site has given me - from daily posts, to trading with other members and what not. I mean, I like this place so much that I share a bit of my personal life with everyone because I really want to. Now, I try and stay positive as much as can be, but I know that it can’t always be that way. Regardless, I just want to tell every BA reading this now that I believe in your happiness and pain, and that I simply wish you the best:

Good morning, Advocates! It's time for a proper breakfast beer.

I very rarely find these "inspired" beers reminiscent of their inspiration. Xocoveza Tres Leches is no exception, but it is very tasty and a good excuse to revisit Xocoveza.

    Cheers!

Also thankful for the community just like Raul’s opener. We just arrived at the hotel and before we book in our room I have cracked open a Lagunitas IPA on the parking in my car. The rest of the afternoon will be walking and drinking. That’s my kind of afternoon. :grinning:

    Cheers!

Poured rain all night/morning…hard to get the dogs to walk in even light rain breaks…home, fed and dry…dipping into my cellar for a treat - World Wide Stout (2016):

Bottled 11/1/16. Poured at 52°. Fizzy tan cap leaves smallish island of micro dots; poor cap retention, thin ring, some spots of lace; almost black body with grayish edges and a little clarity; thick legs on swirl. Roast malt, sweet dark fruit, chocolate; boozy exhale. Semi sweet chocolate covered plums, roast malt and boozy fruit; black licorice as it warms; sugary berries and plums/chocolate bread pudding finish. Full minus mouthfeel, not adjuncty; full on mouth warmth from 18% abv; phenolic burn on tongue; light carbonation. Overall still amazing after over five years; no oxidation; layers of dark fruit and dark chocolate, roast malt, and boozy heat - my kinda beer!

    Already reviewed 2019 version…

I may be stuck inside all day given the rain (much needed)…Cheers and have a great Thursday y’all!

I'm with you, typically prefer the OG version over the variants. Usually pass on these types of releases at this stage, hopefully Stone will return with "plain old" Xocoveza at some point.

I also pulled a West Coast stout this morning, glass inspired by @Roguer .

Full review in the cellar thread. Story for WBAYDN audience, this beer held up well, improved in some aspects, with the exception of significant sediment which will result in my likely stopping about 9-10 oz in.

Moving on amidst the gloomy weather (and humidity, it’s 78° outside now)…stout weather?…You bet, I drink them year ‘round and if I waited for cool/cold days here in SWFL I’d rarely drink my favorite stout styles (same for my friends here, weather/temperatures do not influence our imperial stout drinking…) - “Vanilla Bean Ares” by River Styx Brewing:

No canning date. A recent Tavour purchase so presumably 2021? Poured at 56°. Dark tan head with some rocks; no cap retention; thin ring; spots of lace; thin legs. Vanilla nose - smells like a Vanilla BB Bat candy from my childhood in the ‘60s. Vanilla, chocolate and a bit of roast. Smooth feel; full minus body; light carbonation; warmth from 12% abv. Quite good, more vanilla than many “vanilla” stouts I’ve drank; good feel, good taste and great nose; excellent vanilla linger.

I am tasked with installing a screen on the patio doors, so the dogs have an easier time getting in and out of the house. It looks easy (famous last words).
Waiting for it to warm up a little, and drinking this:

Post brunch beer…Mrs. Z got up around noon, ate, then went back to bed sans dogs…another disappointing visit with one of her several dental physicians yesterday has put her in a funk…her recent post-cancer jaw teeth dentist issues are vexing currently … a rainy day is a good day for resting…

Probably last cellar pull for me today - Firestone Walker’s “Stickee Monkee” (2016):

2016 Vintage. Poured at 54°. Brown with ruby body; good clarity; quick beige head; thin ring, poor cap retention, no lace; thin legs. Fruity esters; caramel malt, leather, tobacco, candied yams. Taste follows with caramel apple sweetness, bourbon, oak, and brown sugar/molasses. Feel is thin silk, body is medium, carbonation is light; faint warmth from 11.6%. abv. Overall a WC BA Quad style!, no oxidation after almost 6 years, the nose is heady fruity corse earthy aromas, the taste is subtle - rich umami base with dancing sweeter notes of sugar, fruit and Belgian yeast in the higher register. A beer worthy of aging and May even advance another 2-3 years taste-wise - onward Science!

My usual, seasonal beer porch-bomber struck again, so I'll join in later - after this upcoming and dreaded dentist visit. I really don't want to get my gums lasered again.

Happy hopping Thursday Advocates. Great to be here! Thanks to @RaulMondesi for tapping todays thread. Figured I'd start my beery escapade with some Mo. We all deserve Mo. If I lived in Maine I'd have much Mo of this Pale Ale in my fridge. Cheers everyone! Keep on smiling!
