    Greetings all!

New month starting off and the end of that nonsense and absurd « dry-January », which as you can see I’m strongly opinionated about.

On the other hand I’m glad that some of our members following this will be back with actual beers today - onwards anyway.

La Goudale in a 500ml can.

    Cheers..!

Thanks for kicking off the thread this morning @Shanex !

I'm still on Vegas time, but have been good keeping my beer consumption until my late lunch dinners until this morning when @Todd kicked off Cellaruary ! It's also my Beer Advocate 9th Anniversary, so I may indulge in a second beer from home later on today (or a few if I go on an outing). I ran into 2023 BCBS Original on sale and may return later today to snag them, since I haven't bought any for the release.

Really enjoying my cellar selection to start the month (link to my Cellaruary treatment).

Really enjoyed this Ray Beato video I enjoyed after returning home. Holds a similar theme to what many people around the World have encountered the past forty years in terms of technology changing how people work and are compensated.

    And two proper celebratory songs!!

Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for starting us off again - I agree the "dry January" benefits are limited if indeed they exist at all, other than saving a few bucks. I just bought the first brews of the new year yesterday - a case of North Coast Old Raspy and a four-pack of Rogue Rolling Thunder - so just some relaxing brews for evening consumption.

Today's New Breakfast Beer, from @snaotheus in a ninja hit during BSBIF#1:

I added this to the database since to previous entry was also aged in tequila barrels - this one is just in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. That means at least one or the other raters/reviewers should move their reviews. Anyway:

Final impression and summation: 4 Although I can’t detect cinnamon (my favorite spice), this is a quite good version of a Mexican hot chocolate – the bourbon comes through although the barrels are absent, but bourbon and barrels are a bonus in a Mexican-style hot chocolate stout.
Rating 3.88, rDev 0% (First review) Thanks Ryan - I really enjoyed this one!

I just got out of my first meeting...about an hour talking to Germans!

I'm a very early morning person -- usually out of bed before 4:30.

You, on the other hand, are either enjoying stout very, very late at night, or very, very early in the morning!

Morning, BAs! Last Spicy Chocolate KBS on hand. I might grab another four-pack; I'm undecided.

Check out my local weather forecast. Jaw-dropping to put it mildly. A broken winter.

Orval. Taste is great after a 2,5 week break from alcohol.
This is a fresh one, cold from the fridge. Couple of months, that is fresh for Orval anyway. Have a more mature one for later.
    Cheers!

Happy Thursday and February 1st....debated quite a bit about what would be my "1st" real beer after a month of abstaining in January - and yes, the benefits are real and tangible!

Not going bonkers today, but these 2 sure are tasting pretty awesome!

little dram of Scotch sidecar.....ummm good

Cheers to all who made it through your dry month, and kudos to you!!

[IMG] Doing a 1-euro strong blonde comparison:
Luxus from Martens Belgium and the 8.6 from Bavaria Holland.
First impressions: my assumption that these beers were undrinkable lower shelf semi-waste products for homeless alcoholics, was wrong (or maybe I will be one soon, can be as well). Both are drinkable, Luxus is very refreshing and easy drinkable. And the foam on the 8.6 is pretty impressive. It breaks down with a crackling sound.

The 8.6 is very strange beer, opens and pours impressively, with big bubble carbonation. But at the end small bubble carbonation takes over. Seems almost like a mix of two beers, and has a bit a licorice taste. Too much Frankenstein for me. Prefer the slightly cheaper Luxus. Drink it like a strong lager, is very drinkable and refreshing, but does not have much of a taste.

I'm not doing much of anything today, except for walking the dogs. There are three of them and they take separate walks because they act like assholes when I walk them together. They are fine on solo walks. I tell myself it's good for me to get a little more exercise.

Good morning, advocates. Getting into some Vacant For Winter from Pizza Port. This one features Mosaic, Idaho 7, Citra, & Loral. Love the bitterness on this one. Cheers!
