    1) Einbecker Brauherren Pils (4.9%): An authentic German Pils with flavors of earthy pale malts, bread, yeast. Smooth.
    versus
    2) Rothaus Tannenzapfle (5.1%): An authentic German Pilsner with flavors of lemon citrus, bread, bitter and dry yeast. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Rothaus Tannenzapfle
: German Pils Battle. A couple of favorites. First is Einbecker Pils. Nice aromas, but a little more tame on the flavor. Drinks smooth. Very nice stuff.
Next is Rothaus. Has a more distince floral and bitter yeast flavor. More pronounced and bitteer/floral. This Rothaus Pils is growing on me and becoming one of my favorites.

From a 16oz can purchased at the brewery. Dated Feb 24'

This beer is a thick looking beer and pours pitch black in color. The head comes to a 2 finger tan color. Decent retention and some lacing on the glass as the head dissipates.
Aroma is a smooth dark chocolate with caramel, lactose, and toffee. Notes of malt also show up here.
Taste - There's a good dark chocolate hit right up front. This dark chocolate has a good bitterness to it. The caramel, and toffee hits on the backside. There's also notes of coffee in this beer. There's some sweetness, but less than the nose suggested.
Body is decent. Somewhat smooth. Not as full as I was expecting.
Not bad overall, and I'm glad I bought it.

Brauerei Hofstetten's Heller Bock, dry hopped with cascade hops. This is...terrible! It tastes like lemon & baking soda. Perhaps American techniques have no place in traditional German brewing.

    1) Hop Butcher Blazed Green Relish (8.0% canned 2/6/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Strata, and Sabro for flavors of fresh orange, green papaya, and zesty citrus.
    versus
    2) Hop Butcher Shrimp Night (8.0% canned 3/5/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Strata, and Simcoe for flavors of zesty lemon, tropical pineapple, and mango. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Hop Butcher IPA Battle and both have Citra and Strata. First is Blazed Green Relish, with the addition of Sabro. Fairly balanced and mild here and the Sabro is present, but doesn't overpower.
Next is Shrimp Night, has the addition of Simcoe. First try at this. Has mostly lemon citrus, juicy pineapple, some mango notes underneath. Interesting how the Strata shines more in this one giving that mango and lemon citrus flavor. This has everything you want in the Strata hop. The Citra supports. I don't detect much Simcoe.
The winner is going to come down to preference for the Sabro vs the Strata hop here. Both are, respectively, showcased nicely.

Phase Three/Mickey Finn’s Glacial Movement APA (Cascade/Ahtanum). This one is made in homage to the gold standard Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Has that classic grapefruit and earthy pine resin character of Cascade which is balanced by a touch of caramel malt. Crisp, clean, and dry with a pleasant bitterness. Definitely does the OG justice.

Hop Butcher Single Grind (6.5% canned 4/1/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Strata, Mosaic candied orange, tangerine, peach cream, mashed blueberry and notes of lime. Smooth and dry.

Not every Wednesday do you get to try to new Hop Butcher IPAs in one day. This is also a first for me, about two months fresh. Similar to the last two, has Citra and Strata, but the the addition of Mosaic. The Mosaic definitely comes through here in usual Hop Butcher fashion. More candied orange and peach cream notes. Some mashed blueberry from the Mosaic. A bit lighter and drinks light, not heavy. More peach cream flavors than I expected which sort of overpower here. Pretty good, but the Mosaic overpowers and has some interesting flavors.

On a side note, this is the 1999th beer I've reviewed on BeerAdvocate now, and I was planning for, and thought the 2000th beer was going to propel me into Grand Poo Bah status, but lo and behold I hit the 2500 message mark (Karma lvl 14) with the previous post today to get the title. Still, I'll have to make the 2000th beer special somehow.

Enjoying a local WCIPA named after a football player who played for the bears (lower case 'cuz I'm a Packer fan) for 16 years, Patrick Mannelly. He probably had more career snaps than Jimbo Covert who's in the HOF, because during Mannely's career the bears sucked, and probably will for until they're sold, but I digress, wrong website.
LongSnapper, from Tighthead in Mundelein, Illinois a WCIPA 6%abv 40 ibu.
This has most of what WCIPA's are all about, but I'm an American IPA guy, Centennial, TwoHearted so there's that.
