P.p.s. In my younger days I was a snowmaker at a ski area up north and got to drive a lot of cats. Hardest physical labor and most dangerous daily adventure of my life. I miss those 12hr shifts (I worked midnight til noon) and endless 84hr weeks on the hill.

Franziskaner Weissbier is awesome. I recently tried
Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier, and that is a damn fine beer. Methinks I’ll have one after work.

 

1) Hop Butcher Cosmic Glow (8.0% canned 11/5/2024): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Rakau, Waimea and Mosaic for flavors of orange, tangerine, apricot skins, tropical melon, and mango.
versus
2) Hop Butcher Mellotron (7.5% canned 12/29/25): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Azaaca, & Moteuka for flavors of lemon, papaya, and bright citrus. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

Hop Butcher NEIPA Battle. First is Cosmic Glow. Citra, Rakau and Waimea. 3+ months out. Not sure what Hop Butcher does with the Waimea hop, but it is masterful. Never really had this hop outside of Hop Butcher, but they keep killing it with this hop. People should catch on.
Next is Mellotron. First try at this one. First brewed with Azacca back in 2018. Now has the addition of Moteuka and Citra. The flavors change here. Upfront I got a lot of bright peach and sweet raspberry Now as it settles I'm getting more citrus and pine. It carries a bite. A bit perplexing, but can't quite figure this one out yet. Not super impressed so far, but sometimes it takes a little settling in. I stocked twelve of these so don't worry, I'll know my thoughts on this one before long.
Winner: Hop Butcher Cosmic Glow

 

At Whole Foods. ($7 for a tiny pour is a little steep, IMHO...but hey, never had it before and it's pretty good.)
