No - not dark. No rye. Yes golden. Not a Kolsch. A brewery here in MA is doing the same thing. I questioned it on their FaceBook page and got some doublespeak defensive reply. And damn I forget which thread the discussion is buried in...

Kölsch is supposed to be pale and filtered, and correct: no rye. And made in Köln, specifically. As far as I know, maybe Stone brewed it in a Kölsch-like manner (warm fermented, then lagered)...or maybe they wanted to slap on the label for marketing. It's pretty damn low ABV for a Stone beer.

    At any rate, it's tasty.

I was looking for it earlier; seems like the thread has gone dead lately.

I'm savoring my last few hours of freedom before the kids come home from their grandparents' house. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids -- but I also love Sunday brunch at Tired Hands Brewing Company with my wife!:sunglasses::sunglasses:

It all started so innocently. I'm drinking Wilbur, the beer on the left. It's SaisonHands for my wife.

Those 8oz pours went down in a hurry! Next up is Saclo (8.3% Imperial Wheat IPA) and Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt (6.6% Coffee Saison).

Time for a little food! See that Candied Bacon…?

    …now you don't!:stuck_out_tongue::grinning:
    Kilt it.:sunglasses:

Back home and in need of a palate cleanser. This will do:

Traveled all night Friday and Saturday. Had barely enough energy to drink a beer last night but today I am getting caught up. Started with vanilla noir(it was meh), stone espresso ris(great)!, now onto big gruesome and must say it is hitting the spot. Hoping to take a nap after this one and wake up,to a nice steak with a couple toppling Goliath IPAs.

yeah I mean you can't just call that dark rye beer a kolsch right? A kolsch is supposed to be golden light, almost imperceptibly fruity and certainly not dark. It's NOT A DARK BEER> That's some lattitude they took with the color and the rye.

    Are we still drinking?

See the bird in the beer?

Update: Got 3 pages of my paper done, the water is fixed (never seen those city workers work so fast!) & no more Tornado warning! Southern Tier Live ale next with some Santa Fe Imperial Stout on deck...

Yeah, when you are that far off a style guideline, I gotta think you either were smoking some medicinal herb or you just don't care what you call your beer...or both.

I've been just craving a Founders Breakfast Stout, but I'm out. And so are all of my beer haunts. Then lo and behold, Wegmans served me up a suitable alternative...ST Mokah...
