Central Coast Brewing's Catch 23. Incredible beer.

Helles Lagers are really good and somewhat rare, Twisted Helles from Frankenmuth is a great example and available in cans. Kolsch style also, I like the delicate floral essence of a Kolsch style brew.

As far as Ales go, Irish Reds are very good but hard to find for some reason.

Westbrook One Claw. Listed as a PA , it's better than most IPAs.

Something must be wrong with me. I try and try to like them because they are local, take up a lot of shelf space in Lynchburg, and everyone else I know likes them. I haven't found a beer by them I like. I think the Vienna is nondescript. I like schwarzbiers, but thought theirs was bad. I've tried one or two more. Any other beers you'd recommend by them?

Anchor Steam. This gets love from the folks that have been around for awhile but I think it slips under the radar for a lot of us younger American hop thirsty punks. A true classic and unique style. I revisited this the other day and was astounded by how little I appreciated this before getting heavy into the craft scene.

Unfortunately, I think it was an one-off thing. I was lucky enough to be in Denver when they tapped it, but I'm guessing it kicked pretty quickly - was damn good though!

No surprise-cask dispense. To allow beer to develop and increase its complexity over the best the brewery can do whereas keg/can/bottles can only maintain the status quo.

I was just thinking the same... still $8.99 a 6'er too! Cheaper than Sierra Nevada and Lagunitas (in NEO at least)

Two Women (New Glarus, Lager) - 86 BA Score
I know alot of Lagers get lower ratings, but this is one that needs more appreciation. Very easy drinking but stands out vs. other Lagers/Sessionable beers. Great balance of malt and perfect hint of hops.

Fractal (Penrose Brewing, Belgian IPA) - 88 BA Score
If you get this stuff fresh, it is delicious. I don't mind Belgian IPA's, but I generally prefer American style. This beer on the other hand stands out. I've only had a handful of BIPA's but this is my clear cut favorite.

Apex Predator (Off Color, Farmhouse) - 89 BA Score
It's really refreshing, has a nice crisp bite with fruity tones to it. I've heard some negativity in the past about this one, but I like it.

    A Few others...more seasonal:
Fistmas (Revolution, Red "Holiday" Ale) - 86 BA Score
Pumpkin Pie Lust (New Glarus, Pumpkin Beer) - 83 BA Score

...Really most Pumpkin beers. I like them alot (as long as they are done right, I've had some garbage ones) and I know they get alot of grief.

None of it, people can drink whatever they like. If they ask for my opinion or suggestions I will say something with proper understanding.

DFH Palo Santo Marron. It is such an amazing beer that is more complex than most BA stouts. And virtually everyone can go buy it right now, yet I don't think many do.

This seems a cross between the fairly common "What is your highest rDev%" and "What is your guilty pleasure" threads. But I'll play.

I agree, I think it's the best readily-available stout by a solid margin. I appreciate the simplicity of staples like Old Rasputin and Ten Fidy, but Palo Santo's Peruvian wood flavor is both unique and amazing.
