Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen (MBCC) is back on the 10th + 11th of May. People are asking if I plan on attending due to living in the Nordics now. Never been. Highly considering it. Would love to raise some beers with everyone. https://www.mikkeller.com/mbcc Who's going? Any tips for a potential first-timer? Thanks!
I wish I was going to MBCC, but alas...not this year. I attended in 2016 and 2018 (and had tickets for 2020, but...). With that caveat of assuming that nothing has changed drastically in the past six years, I'd say that MBCC is the best-run festival that I've been to. - The line to get in moves exceptionally quickly; the event space used for MBCC is perfectly-sized for it and is very convenient to get to from the main train station. - The food options are very good (if they're in attendance, get a hot dog from John's Hot Dog Deli). - Unless the hype trains have changed substantially, the longest pour lines will likely be for Omnipollo and many of the well-regarded American breweries there will have no lines at all. - Mikkeller has historically put on a number of other events elsewhere in Copenhagen the week of MBCC, so if you get in a couple days early, there should be other things to do. - As an unofficial MBCC stop (and if they're open), I recommend 1420 Bar (Griffenfeldsgade 20). The Internet states they're "temporarily" closed, but there hasn't been any Untappd check-ins for the location since early August.
The 2016 version's the best beer event I've been to. I agree w/ swid, and will echo the food at the venue was fantastic. Go to Himmeriget while in Copenhagen, go to the other related events around town. I wasn't a fan of the smoked meat at WarPigs but I'm used to high quality BBQ in the states. And, if you didn't know, Copenhagen is a tough place to be frugal, so prepare.
Also will be in Budapest Beer week on 25th of May. If you are in Denmark, lets grab a pint! This is my first beer festival in Europe and MBCC.
I’d potentially be interested in meeting at one of the events and splitting some of the “fancy” bottles, as I’m sure they’re going to be quite expensive. Thinking Moksa, Lua etc, but could do others.
