Why stop? Availability: never had to wait in line, buy a ticket or trade to have one of their beers. Price: I like buying a sixer without having to spend a ton of money. Variety: Tasty offerings of many different styles.

Because Sierra Nevada gives us more Bang for our Buck. They are quality at a very affordable price. Even their High Altitude Series Beers are affordable. I am looking forward to their Hoptimum 2016 version which should be released next month. That beer is literally Liquid Sex in a Bottle and worth the wait.

I feel like drinking some Sierra Nevada this week, they make solid beers and I don't reach for SN enough. Great post!

Sierra Nevada is a great great brewery I may not drink all the time, but they are putting out great stuff on a national level. I feel that APAs and IPAs have evolved well pasted stuff like SNPA and Torpedo, they are still sparked to understand the styles, and beers I would very stick my nose up at. Plus Bigfoot ages like a champion! I don't think there is anything that Sierra Nevada could do that would make me say I'm not drink that, @sierranevadabill, please keep up the great work! Also please rebrew Firtz and Ken 30th Anniversary, Narwhal is great but that 30th anniversary was amazing and the stout that got me into stouts!

Seems to me that Sierra Nevada's distribution in NJ has been lousy for a number of years - very little draught, most seasonal beers seem to get here much later than they should (especially given SN's 150 day shelf life period), lots of near- and out-of-code beer. Sierranevadabill has stated that part of the problem is that (for some inexplicable reason*) NJ requires "CRV" [California Redemption Value] labels :astonished: and that means we still get California-brewed SN, not NC production (although the situation was bad before they opened the east coast facility). Some blame has got to fall on the Miller/Coors houses that distribute SN in NJ, too, I think.

    * I gotta figure they passed some regulation back in the '80s or 90s in anticipation of a deposit law that never passed and we're stuck with it? When's the last time you were charged a separate deposit OR redeemed a beer bottle in NJ? I've checked labels ever since SNB mentioned it and seems me I've seen some beers sold in NJ without it, but have no idea who or how it is regulated.

I think its not just rediscovery of good beers, its also the constant search for something new and different. So many of us have had so many beers once or twice and then will never drink it again. Not because its not good but because the beer we haven't had yet may be better (though most times its not). How many times do we go into a bar or a bottle shop and pass over a beer we've had that we know is great just to buy a beer we haven't had yet?

Great value and variety in their line-up. Really looking forward to their Oktoberfest collab with Mahrs this year. As an aside, does anyone know what the line-up for the summer variety pack is this year? Their site is always behind on updating them so it still shows last years pack.

    Amen!!!!

Agree that is it difficult to find nearly fresh (forget about fresh) SN in Central NJ. The most common reason I pass on SN when beer shopping is lack of freshness, which needless to say, is very disappointing.

The brewery in Asheville is pretty cool, great beers, and eclectic menu in the tasting room...I love the Fresh/Wet Hop & Ovila Series also

Lets see, case of Bigfoot this year, 2.5 cases of Celebration, love me some of those 24 oz special hops series bottles, the special 12 packs. Winter packs, fall 12 packs. Torpedo cans, yup. October fest, more please. Bought a case of Narwhal, ( over BBCS, YRMV) and will try to get a case of Hoptimum this spring. So, yes SN rocks. Almost the only left coast one I buy. No founders, lagunitas or stone, at all.

I "rediscovered" sierra nevada when i moved about 1 1/2 hours away from the new brewery in NC and took a couple visits out there (beautiful campus i must say). Beer camp NC and hop hunter are easily some of my favorite beers out there. the convenience of picking them up at the publix around the corner is nice as well. not a fan of the pale ale though

I have certain baseline beers as I call them that if I walk into a bar I am unfamiliar with and see their taps hanging I will have comfort knowing I can get a good beer with my meal (or without a meal). Sierra Nevada is one of these, along with several other big craft breweries who have beer that is oft overlooked due to commonality. I also like to keep certain beers around at all times to help fill out my fridge and as easy to drink go to beers whenever the urge hits me. I love trying a new beer, a new release, a collaboration, a whale, etc. but still have no problem buying the old steadies to keep on hand.

What are some of the better "craft" beer deals in your neck of the woods?

I was introduced and hooked on "micro brews" as they were called and quality imports by my friends older brothers back in about 1990. I was 16!. It was an obsession that lead to me brewing for a brewpub making really crappy money for 3 years.

At that time there were so few American craft beers that an aficionado could easily taste all of them in short order if you had access.

Sierra Nevada was viewed by many as the king of American craft beers. Anchor and Sam Adams by others.

I have not been following the beer geek scene closely for the last 15 years (other than notice IPA has been WAY overrepresented) but the idea that SN would be considered ordinary or mass produced is mind boggling. SN is excellent beer and a breweries size doesn't dictate quality. There are a lot of poorly made beers out there that cover their flaws with hops.

The over obsession with ridiculously hoppy and unbalanced beers as well the idea that only small breweries are worth the attention is ridiculous.

They are always solid. Ive had SNPA almost six months out of date and while they bite was gone, the base beer is still great.

Im not a fan of Gose, but otra vez i could drink. Just shows that they could turn people around on any style by putting out a great balanced beer.

I'm a 100% Sierra Nevada fan boy. I don't think they have a bad beer in their line-up. SNPA is one of my favorite beers of all time, Nooner/Summerfest are my go-to lager fixes, and if I'm wanting something a bit darker, I grab a Porter or Stout and am amazed at how great they are. I will try anything they put out and I am constantly amazed at their consistency from beer to beer. They are the pinnacle of craft brewing, in my opinion, and run their business in a way that all other breweries should strive to replicate.

Funny you should mention this. We're actually tooling over in NC to begin packaging beer for New Jersey in the coming months. Hopefully this will start speeding up the process for getting beers there quicker and a little fresher. That said, most of the specialty stuff (Bigfoot, Narwhal, Harvest, Ovila...etc.) will still come from California, as we generally don't brew that in NC.
