Enjoy By and Hopslam (both 4.48).

I don't review beers I haven't sampled extensively. If I did, I would rank Pliny (both Younger and Elder), Heady Topper, and Pure Hoppiness higher than any beer I've rated. Wicked Weed Freak of Nature and Comrade Superpower would also be up there.

    I have given two 5's.

    Black Note
    Supplication

There are several others that are very close to 5 but did not make the cut. I was looking through the posts and noticed their is a little bit of bias on those scores based upon proximity to the brewery the person voted their highest rating and where they live. Usually the beer is from their state or very close by. Not everyone but a lot, I am somewhat of an outlier I suppose. My two are not even close to home and I traded for both of them! But damn if they were not fantastic.

I haven't rated many beers (and there are a lot of (I'm sure) great ones I haven't tried...yet...but I really love the FW Anniversary series. I've so far only had 16 and 17 (popping an 18 on Tuesday, and can't imagine I'll be disappointed), but they are fantastic. Also, I realize it's a bit of a cliché (and sometimes even seems a bit passé?), but Westy 12 is up there for sure. Backwoods Bastard and Stickee Monkee deserve a mention, for sure.

Dark Lord Imperial Stout at a rating of 4.89 followed by Avery's Samael Ale and Stone's Russian Imperial Stout tied for 3rd place both with a rating of 4.82. Pliny the Elder comes in 4th with a rating of 4.79. North Coast Brewing's Old Rasputin is my 5th top rated at 4.75. I have yet to give any beer a rating of a perfect 5.

I've only given 1 5 rating to a beer and that's Sucaba. I don't know how to improve on that one. For a barleywine, it's as good as it gets.

I don't care if every beer snob disagrees, it's my opinion and it was asked. Those are the only 5's I've rated. It makes me sad in retrospect that I didn't rate Pliny a 5. Boy, I must have been a real snob back in 2009. I'd cut off a toe to have a Pliny again. Oh well. Honest.

Rare and BA Abraxas... the Rare was perfection, the BA Abraxas had all the flavors I love done in an exquisite fashion. That said, I like coffee beers quite a bit and as of last week I am now torn between BCBCS (which is much better than KBS IMHO) and Sump, which blew me away.

Gose gone wild is my perfect beer. So much lacto and lemon zest and juice. Also a pineapple Greek yogurt flavor. Really sour. I don't see how it could be better.

Double barrel huna is a close second. Most complex beer I've had. Fudgy brownies and apple cinnamon rolls dunked in whiskey. Mouthfeel is thickest I've had as well.

I gave them both my only 5's
