The summers in Oklahoma City are hot as hell. We wanted an easy remedy to beat the heat (or at least forget it was hot), and this refreshing mix of elderflower liqueur, grapefruit vodka and crisp, clean Blonde Ale did the trick.
12 oz COOP Ale Works Horny Toad (or other Blonde Ale, like Skinny Dip from New Belgium Brewing or Victory Brewing Company’s Summer Love)
1 1/2 oz St. Germain
1/2 oz Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka
1 each orange slice
Fill a 2-ounce shot glass with three parts St. Germain and one part Ruby Red Vodka. Pour the Blonde Ale into a pint glass until it is three-quarters full. Drop the shot into the beer and garnish with an orange slice. ■
