500ml bottle bought from Beerritz.co.uk
Poured a nice deep amber gold colour. Slightly off white head with hints of copper poured pretty thick and foamy then faded quickly to light wispy coating with thickish edging... very light carbonation... some patchy lacing...
Aroma - Lots of grapefruit and citrus hoppiness to the fore followed by some biscuty and toasted malts, juicy tart fruits (oranges, ripe mangoes, pears, lemons), lots of rubberiness, herbal notes - hints of basil, quite foral, some nuttiness...
Taste - Lots of grassy and citrus hop bitterness... juicy tart fruits (strong grapefruits, lemons, pears, bitter oranges), biscuity, very floral, the faintest hint of caramel / tofee balances out the hops, quite herbal, slight metallic notes
M&D - Pretty sharp and dry... light bodied... very very quaffable and just about sessionable at 5.7%
Overall - A supremely good example of an English ESB... full of flavour and incredibly balanced... highly recommended. My first Marble brew and i wasn't disappointed...
