Appearance: Arrives amber colored with an impressive head that leaves sheets of lacing behind

Smell: Piney hops with citrus pith and mint tones

Taste: Malt forward with caramel building a base; the hops power forward, bring orange pith and pine; the caramel malt glides through the finish right along side the hops; the finish has a slight grassy tone

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation

Overall: A well-balanced DIPA with a bit of an old school character

Staw haze pale gold. Minimal head. Not a huge nose which is unexpected. And a slight let down. Perhaps its towards the end of the keg? Great bitterness up front, pine gripps the side of the tongue. Slight citrus and lingers a resin-y flavor. Incredibly smooth. Full bodied from the malt but not overwhelmed by it. well balanced. Overall delish. Hope it makes it to cans.

Update:
1/20/17 tried the "updated" version of this, with new hop profile and staging.
Its a bit maltier. Both sugary wise and toasty wise. Still very bitter. And piney. A bit more hot it seems. They had it losted at 9.1% vs. 9.0. Not preceivesble to the pallet, but perhaps the changes in the beer make it seem so. Getting some slight grapefruit.

Had this on 2014-03-13 in Columbia, PA

A - Moderately clear dark orange with a 1.5-finger white head that sticks around and leaves very nice lacing.

S - Pineapple, orange rind, pine, herbal, sweet lightly-toasted bread. Inviting, full aroma.

T - Hop forward. More dank than the aroma but not over the top. Overly ripe orange flesh, grassy-herbal, pepper, a touch of sourness, orange zest, alcohol sweetness, bready malt. Finishes with the same flavors; leaning more towards the bitter side after a minute.

M - Medium-full body and light carbonation. Resinous and prickly. Substantial.

O - This is a big, bold brew that certainly shakes up the tongue. There's a bit of a clash between the overly-ripe fruit and the dank bitterness so it doesn't rocket to the top of my DIPA list; but very nice nevertheless.

Serving: Bomber poured into an IPA glass. Bottled in July 2013. Enjoyed on 12/3/2013.

A - Amber with low carbonation. Loaded with sediment. Not the nicest looking beer.

S - Very nice smell. Very citrusy with subtle malt notes. The hops dominate.

T - Follows the nose. Citrusy hops forward with a malty finish.

M - Low carbonation. A nice grapefruity aftertaste that lingers.

O - A solid offering but a touch too mild for a DIPA. By IPA standards, this one rates higher but its not a DIPA in my opinion. Still a very enjoyable and drinkable beer. I think it would look better if consumed sooner but I would gladly buy this again @ $8 a bomber.
