Tastes like a cinnamon bun, not a margarita.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated May 27 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a hazy pale golden colour, sporting one finger of frothy, soapy white head that collapses within a minute or two. It leaves behind a creamy collar and bubbly cap, but little in the way of lace. It smells of sour lactic acidity (?), stone fruit, lemons and wheaty grains, with subtle hints of lime zest and agave. No mention of souring/lactobacillus anywhere that I can find, but man, this smells a lot like a sour IPA.
This is a bizarre beer, and not a particularly pleasant one, either - overall it leans toward the sweet side, with a little bit of citrus tartness throughout. Bready pale malts and agave syrup sweetness/spiciness at the forefront, with orange and lime shortly thereafter. It finishes with an unusual blend of lemon, grapefruit pith, red berries, coconut and tequila/agave flavour, leaving a vaguely nutmeg spice-like taste behind, lasting into a salty, sweet aftertaste. Light-medium in body, with moderate carbonation and a slick, tongue-coating mouthfeel not unlike that of certain goses. I finished my can, but mainly because I'm cheap - I'd rather be drinking something else.
Final Grade: 3.35, squeaking out a B-. This is the second can of Fireworks & Karate I've had in the past week or so, and almost definitely my last - it's just not what I'm looking for from any beer, let alone an IPA specifically. It's sad to say, but after ten (or so) years of consuming Flying Monkeys products, this is almost certainly the poorest one to date - not that I'm inclined to hold one failed experiment against them, as I've thoroughly enjoyed the vast majority of their beers. I'd only recommend trying this beer out of morbid curiosity, though I suppose tequila fans might appreciate it more than I did.

Their brewers were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.

Pours cloudy gold colour with a frothy offwhite head. The smell reminds me of fruit punch. The taste is a bit sour, artificial fruity notes, actually quite tasty. The can says Margarita IPA, questionable. Maybe because of the salt and lime advertised on the can but it taste more like a fruit punch IPA.

Review from notes. LCBO purchase for $3.75 or so. Canned May 26.
Appearance - Hazy golden color with yellow highlights and two fingers of fluffy white head to cap it off.
Smell - Sweet lime and lemon with hints of mint. Kind of reminds me of Sprite Ice from years and years ago. Hints of tequila too. Definitely margarita-like.
Taste - Some bitterness initially, then fairly sweet with some tequila and agave flavor. Muted and a touch too sweet overall.
Mouthfeel - Medium light body, carbonation is lacking just a bit.
Overall - In theory a good idea (maybe), but think a stronger version (say 7% ABV) might be needed to get the execution right. Not enough IPA and not quite margarita enough to be called either. A stronger rendition could change that.
