473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Jun 7 2023 and served slightly chilled.

Pours foggy golden orange, with numerous clumps of fluffy, cottony sediment visible within its body. It's initially topped with one finger of smooth, foamy off white head that lasts for the better part of three minutes; its remnants include a tight collar as well as a narrow band of even lace. It smells of mango, apricot, passion fruit and orange, with suggestions of coconut and bready, wheaty malts.

Ooh, this is a tasty one. Big citrus flavours at the forefront, including grapefruit, lemon and mandarin orange slices in syrup; I'm also getting shades of pineapple and peach before that first wave of mango strikes the taste buds. The mango isn't overstated, but it lasts into the finish, alongside lingering notes of citrus, coconut and stone fruit, with just a hint of floral, earthy hop bitterness. Fruity aftertaste that doesn't last; lightly warming, with barely discernible booziness. Full bodied, with a soft, somewhat juicy mouthfeel; light carbonation adds a touch of crispness. Easy enough to knock back for just north of 8%.

Final Grade: 4.06, an A-. Flying Monkeys brews a lot of different IPAs, and very few of them are "normal" - though to be fair, their motto (Normal is Weird) appears on all of their labels. What I'm getting at is that an FM IPA is rarely just hops, malts & yeast - there's almost always one or more bonus ingredients, which often overshadow the underlying IPA flavours. Island of Imaginary Friends bucks that trend by being an excellent DIPA in its own right, with great, distinctive citrusy hop flavours. The mango/coconut/rice are mostly just along for the ride - they're noticeable, but not the center of attention. I would buy this again for sure - if they brew another batch next year, I'll be sure to try it fresh.

Orange hazy with one finger whitehead. Smells like orange juice. Taste like orange juice and pineapple juice with a dry finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a dry finish. I got this in Stratford where I’m drinking a July 24, 2023.

I bought a can at the LCBO in Ontario Canada 473ml at 8.2%.
Poured into glass with a 1 finger head leaving a lace as you drink it.
Lots of tropical fruit flavours like mango pineapple and coconut flavour with a medium bitterness level.
Overall a very good dIPA beer would probably buy it again this is a very good brewery flying monkey.
Cheers

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for around $4 CDN. Canned June 7, 2023

Appearance - Pours a hazy, well fleshy mango coloured beer and capped with a finger plus of frothy white foam. Good staying power and a few little bits of sediment float around in the glass.

Smell - Generally tropical, light and fruity with an emphasis on mango. Peach and coconut have an appearance too.

Taste - Mango and coconut combo, very fruity, fairly sweet, not very boozy. Kind of built up like a mango coconut creamsicle. Not usually my favorite combo of flavors here, but with the heft of the brew this works very well together.

Mouthfeel - Full bodied and lightly carbonated, a little sticky and definitely rich as far as IPA's go. Juicy without being "juicy", the mango puree definitely adds some heft here. A good sipper of a fruity and otherwise light DIPA.

Overall - They're back. After a couple of minor missteps (being merely good IPA's rather than great IPA's, Island of Imaginary Friends goes back to what FLying Monkeys does best... be innovative and put out some top notch stuff locally. Very glad to have picked up 4 of these.

473 mL can
Served in an oversized, stemless, wine glass

This beer pours an orangish yellow hue and is murky. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves nice lacing.

There is mango but not over the top. It has a nice citrus undertone.

Nice mango flavor with complimentary citrus.

Medium bodied with a slightly chalky mouthfeel

Not too shabby. Kind of expensive, but it is an import.
