At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From their Chocolate Stout Sampler 4-pack at the University Ave. West LCBO in nearby downtown Windsor. Packaged November 14/24. My eighteenth beer from the Barrie, Ontario brewery, and sixth for 2025. With Gracie the cat...

473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Flying Monkeys' Box O' Chocolates mixed pack. Dated Nov 19 2024 and served barely chilled.
Pours an opaque blackish-brown colour, fitted with nearly two fingers of foamy, tan-coloured head. Within five minutes, it has eroded down to a tight collar and a filmy cap, with the occasional swath of lace deposited onto the glass; looks similar to the rest of the beers in this pack. The same could be said of the aroma, although the lack of competition does allow the chocolatey goodness to strut its stuff. Brownie, chocolate syrup, dark chocolate, cocoa powder - it's all there, as are hints of vanilla, sweet cream and roasted malts.
A tasty, uncomplicated chocolate milk stout. Starts out like a brownie, transitioning to milk chocolate, vanilla and chocolate syrup by mid-sip. Cocoa powder and some dark chocolate bitterness develop at the finish, with creamy milk chocolate fading into a sweet cocoa aftertaste. It's delicious, but it's relentlessly saccharine, which is not a boon to its drinkability. On the other hand, its full body, low carbonation and velvety smooth mouthfeel do make it easier to slug back.
Final Grade: 4.11, an A-. Ooey Gooey is a very solid chocolate milk stout, but its lack of complexity caused me to lose interest over the course of the session. I was originally going to write 'lack of depth', but that's not quite accurate - its chocolate flavours are deep enough. The real issue is that there's nothing else going on: it's all chocolate, all the time. Now, that's hardly a dealbreaker for a sweet stout, which is why I'd still encourage anyone who has enjoyed a Flying Monkeys stout in the past to seek this out for themselves. Fans of their Chocolate Manifesto, in particular: if you'd like something along the same lines, but less sumptuous / more drinkable, here it is.

16 ounce can, canned on date of NOV 29 2024 stamped on the bottom of the can. Part of the Box O' Chocolates stout sampler 4 pack. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells like cocoa powder, chocolate cake and milk chocolate. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also some cream and dark chocolate flavors noticeable too. Obviously, the chocolate stands out here, definitely a dessert beer but without being too strong. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. Easy enough to drink. I liked this one, but recommend this more to people who like chocolate a lot!

473 mL can
Served in a snifter
This beer pours black and is topped with a tan head that leaves spotty lacing.
It has a nice chocolate cake aroma.
Chocolate flavor. I get some cocoa. The taste is not as intense as the aroma.
Full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel
It gets better as it warms. If the taste matched the aroma I'd be drinking an amazingly fantastic beer. The smell is great. The flavor fails to match that richness and complexity. It is still a solid beer.

473ml can as part of the 2024 winter box of chocolates pack. Canned November 14, 2024.
Appearance - Dark dark brown nearly black and topped with a finger plus of foamy light tan head. God staying power.
Smell - Milk chocolate with some roasted chocolate bits, a touch of dark chocolate. Sweet and savory this a chocolate lover's delight.
Taste - Some dark chocolate initially, with milk chocolate flowing in then some roasty bits as well and trace amounts of smoke.
Mouthfeel - Medium-full bodied some dryness and low carbonation. Smooth and velvety sipper.
Overall - Solid addition to the 4 pack. If this is the best beer I will leave a bit disappointed, if it's the worst beer (but still a good beer) I will be delighted. Very solid start to the mixed pack. Not quite as ooey gooey in flavor and feel as the name would suggest.
