Pours deep brassy gold with frenetic carbonation streams and a giant, rocky head. Perfect looking beer. The aroma is of floral, leafy, citrus hops, cookie dough pale malts and some complimentary alcohol heat. The taste malt forward with doughy, biscuity pale malts and a touch of roastiness. A lush tropical, floral hop profile engulfs in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with full carbonation.
This is a stellar example of a Euro Strong Lager. The best version of the style I've tried. Complex and hoppy without the boozy alcohol common to the style.

From a 473ml can packaged on Apr 07 2026. Poured into a pint glass. A one finger head on a clear pale gold. The head soon diminishes to a thin layer. Some patchy lacing.
Malts in the nose. The taste is bready malts. Some banana. Finishes dry. Almost imperceptibly hopped.
A medium/light body with good carbonation. Overall a quality European Strong Lager. Better than most. It beats a lot of the imports.

473ml can served cold into a chalice. LCBO purchase and a January 2, 2026 canning date.
Appearance - Clear golden brew with two fingers of delicate white head. Modest staying power and lots of bubbles.
Smell - Clean and grainy with bready notes and subtle hints of fruit. The higher ABV is ever so slightly noticeable on the nose.
Taste - Lots and lots of grain, some light hops, some toast and a kiss of apple skins. Booze is better hidden in the flavor than on the nose.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, crisp carbonation and dry finish.
Overall - A very good example of a style I don't often partake in, graded up a just a bit for it's quality within the style, Kryptonite 7.0 is one of the best examples out there.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From the Huron Church Rd. LCBO in nearby Windsor. Canned September 26/25. My 24th beer from the Barrie, Ontario brewery, and 2nd for 2026. Ridiculously embraced by Gracie the cat...

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Sep 26 2025 and served barely chilled.
Pours a deep, clear golden colour, supporting nearly two fingers of tight, foamy white head that fades within the next several minutes. Excellent lace generation, with a frothy collar and thin cap remaining on the surface - this is a gorgeous looking lager. The aroma is grassy & herbal, with notes of honey, bready malts and toasted grain also discernible.
Very inoffensive for a strong lager. The flavours mostly follow the nose: bready malts, toasted grains and light honey/caramel, along with a hint of boozy sweetness and faint banana esters. Grassy, herbal hops come through on the back end, with some earthy bitterness preceding a bready, moderately sweet aftertaste that includes a touch of ethanol warmth. Medium-full in body, with moderately low carbonation that softly agitates that palate. Easier to slug back than most examples of this style, but one is plenty for me.
Final Grade: 3.89, a B+. The Flying Monkeys are not exactly known for their lagers, nor do I personally have any predilection towards strong pale lagers - but I must admit, I was summarily impressed by Kryptonite 7.0. The rich malt bill (which includes Munich malt), together with the noble Hallertauer hops, give off the impression of a high quality German export lager crossed with a malt liquor. It's also vastly superior to most of the imported dreck in this category, e.g. the Bavaria 8.6 series. Very good for what it is - probably not all that likely to enter my rotation, but absolutely worth a shot if you enjoy stronger lagers.
