Carnegie Porter is the oldest brand currently still available for distribution in Sweden. In 1817, the Porter production began at Lorentska Brewery in Gothenburg. In 1836, it was taken over by David Carnegie. The Carnegie Porter has since then been the dominating porter in Sweden.
This brew has a slightly roasted aroma with hint of brown sugar and coffee. The taste is round and complex with hints of chocolate and coffee and a slight bitterness in the aftertaste.

No discernible date on bottle. Poured into a shaker glass. It pours a very dark cola with almost a finger of fluffy, light khaki-colored foam and soapy lacing. It smells of brown bread with notes of chocolate, caramel, and coffee. The taste follows with fairly sweet, bready malt, acidic coffee, and hints of chocolate, toffee, burnt nuts, and earthy char. There is only mild bitterness. The best attribute of this Porter is its robust mouth feel. It is quite creamy with appropriate carbonation, and easily drinkable at 5.5% ABV. Overall, a solid Baltic Porter. I would like to try it on draught and perhaps fresher.

Copenhagen 29/7 2025. 33 cl bottle from Systembolaget, Emporia, Hyllie. Very old fashioned label in very brown and wooden colors.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small off-white head. Stable Settles as a thin layer of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with earthy fumes Brown sugar and caramel. Toffee. Roasted coffee. Leather and tobacco. Rich but a bit restrained.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, slightly viscous, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed and balanced by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a sweet pleasant undertone- Lingers for a while. Finish is rather dry.
Well-tasting and well balanced Porter.

Very dark brown brew, apparently clear, with plenty of light beige foam. Interesting aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Quite sweet with lots of dark caramel taste. Some charred grain and a touch of cocoa. Sudsy enough in the mouth, light body, and quite quaffable. This seems like the textbook Baltic porter and not bad for a Carlsberg project. Seems extremely unlikely this has anywhere near 40 IBUs! I had not even thought of bitterness, but there is a touch. From the 11.2 oz bottle purchased on the West Coast.

Pours very dark brown with a spotty head on top. Aroma is roasted malt. Taste is much lighter than expected, for the brew, and is again, roasted malt with an almost non-existent licorice taste that is quite smooth. A mild chocolate is also present. All in all, a light porter that goes down easily.

10oz bottle from 1997.
Pours opaque black with minimal head and no retention. Bakers chocolate, espresso in the nose. Medium bodied with a slick, oily mouthfeel. Dark chocolate and faint fudge on the palate. Finishes fairly dry with lingering chocolate.

good Baltic Porter but I like all of them. As is always the case with this style get ready for some heartiness with a hidden punch. This represents style and is good.

Unlike American porters.
Stronger malt presence, with added tastes- fruit, and some coffee. Possibly sweet.
Best at 50° unlike American porters which usually are better at colder temps.
