Copenhagen 28/11 2015. 33 cl bottle from Aldi under the name "Julens Sneugle". A little happy Santa and a white owl on the label.
Pours clear reddish brown with a white head. Settles as a thin layer of foam struggling to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is malty sweet with som boozy notes. Malty caramel and toffee. Metallic alcohol.
Low carbonation and thick palate.
Flavor is sweet and malty. Distinct sugary taste of caramel. Only very light bitterness.
Run of the mill discount Christmas beer.

Take an American standard with its corn sweetness, add a little more hops + alcohol and just a touch of spicyness (nutmeg?) - and you have this "Christmas brew". Not nearly as bad as I expected, this is still far from the quality of a Norwegian "klasse F" Christmas beer. I have no idea why they imported this stuff to Norway - in Denmark at least it''s cheap, here it''s expensive.

Labelled as a Julebryg Julens 'Sneugle' (33cl bottle) with a small picture of Santa being snowed on: poured into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru stemmed tulip @ home on 28 Dec 2012. I am sure it is the same beer just a label change for a supermarket chain or something simular.
Clear body of a mahogany colour: on top a thin tan covering of small bubbles.
Not a lot of aroma but malty feel to the taste: mildly toffee and caramel flavours come through as the beer warms, both in the smell and taste.
Not what I was expecting, but OK I suppose. Not enough depth of flavour or body really, I think my Dad got this from a cheap supermarket while in Copenhagen and it shows.
