From a 750ml bottle, pours dark brown, almost black, looks like cold coffee. The head comes and goes quickly.
Smell is sour and sweet vinegar, some dark fruit, faint vanilla and oak. Flavor is tart, but not as sour as the nose leads you to think. Cherries, dark fruit, and wood pulp. Very acidic finish that makes you want to wash your mouth out with water after.
This is a bit of a mess for me and I don't think it really comes together well.

750 mL bottle purchased at the brewery, barreled 7-11-11, bottled 4-24-13 and released 9-6-13, bottle #10/290, poured into my The Bruery "June 15th, 2013, Rue the Day," drank 11/28/13 over an hour.
A: 2/3 - deep-brown-to-black coloration, little clarity (cannot see through), tannish-brown coloration on first pour but very quickly dissipates into subtle glass lacing , moderate alcohol legs --> reminds me of The Bruery's Tart of Darkness (sour stout)
S: 9/12 - subtle vinegar and barnyard qualities with dark specialty malts - maybe some Special B?
T: 16/20 - on the anterior tongue, there's an immediate sourness - vinegar, cherries and stone fruit; in the middle of the mouth, some of the vinous qualities come through with some background malts and alcohol; little-to-no aftertaste
M: 4/5 - moderate bodied and appropriately carbonated
O: 8/10 - a solid limited edition American wild ale from a very underrated brewery; as mentioned, this reminds me of The Bruery's Tart of Darkness - not as good but in the same class; would be willing to purchase again and/or trade with those interested
TOTAL = 39/50
