The body is on the lighter side of medium and the mouthfeel is a touch watery.
At first sip, malt sweetness dominates and hints of apple -like sweetness and a sour quality peak through only slightly. After a few more the juice flavor and sourness take over the entire beer.
I am not, on first principles, opposed to sour beers. In fact, I quite enjoy them when I am in the mood. But all of that assumes that the sourness was part of the beer's balance and intended flavor.
In this case both the apple-like flavor and the sourness seem distinctly out of place and in direct contrast to the hop and malt flavors at the core of the beer.
Not sure what happened here, but this was a swing and a miss for me. I hope I get a chance to try something else from these guys.

Took home a bottle from Franklin's General Store.
Decent and interesting, but a little disappointed. "wood aged strong ale" sounded like a great idea but it didn't turn out quite like what I was expecting. (I was probably equating wood-aged and strong with something like Dogfish Palo Santo Marron -- error on my part.)
Batch 700 was a bit... sour? and bitter at the same time. Kind of grapefruit-like. Balanced with a strong malt backbone and decent carbonation. A lot going on but didn't quite all work together for me. Strangely, the remaining part of the bottle grew on me after another day or two in the fridge.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
