Beer served in a shaker pint at the source. Beer is brown and hazy with a white head of small bubbles. Low retention, head is almost gone by the time the beer gets to me, no lacing, moderate to low carbonation.
Aroma is a little yeast but overall a little weak.
Beer is medium to light in body with a mild metallic aftertaste, a little sweet up front, nice yeast in the midpalate, just an OK dubbel though. The yeast is a little subdued and the finish is a little odd. It's just OK, probably not a repeat for me.

From 06/18/11 notes. Had on tap at Franklin's.
a - Pours an amber dark reddish color with one inch of white head and moderate carbonation evident.
s - Smells of very light spice and light dark fruits. Very light in both, and a little bit bland.
t - Tastes of fruity malts, bananas, spices, and cloves.
m - Medium body and moderate carbonation.
o - Overall a pretty average dubbel. Not their strongest beer; wouldn't order it again with some of the others on the menu.

On tap at the American Craft Beer Fest on June 3, 2011. The pour was a darker amber one with a pretty good head and foamy carbonation. The aromas were rather muted but they included some malts and hops. There was this rather odd malty-fruit flavor that I could not quite put my finger on. I think it looked quite good but went downhill on the aroma and taste.

A - Cloudy brown with a small head and no lacing.
S - Strong cloves over banana esters with some powerful caramel malt. A touch of cherries and white pepper.
T - Faint bananas and cloves with a powerful caramel malt. Mild alcohol and a dry malty finish with some fainter grassy (hay more accuurately) hops. A bit of peppery alcohol in the finish.
M - Smooth, thick, a very faint alcohol burn, superficially refreshing, but it is drying overall.
D - Alright. The alcohol is a bit intense. I will probably have it again, bu only because the Imp Stout is gone . . .
