From 03/09/12 notes. Bottle shared by yourefragile; thanks Michael.

a - Pours a dark brown, almost black color, with one inch of dark tan head and low carbonation evident.

s - Smells of roasted malts, coffee, vanilla, coconut, sweet dark fruits. Pretty nice nose, the vanilla comes through.

t - Taste seems to be a little off; can't put my finger on it though. Some roasted malts, light vanilla, coconut, and old fruits. A big step down from the nose.

m - Light body and moderate carbonation. Very light body, a bit watery.

o - Overall this was a decent stout. The nose was promising but the body is very thin, and the taste fell off a bit. Sounded from yourfragile like this was much better on tap at the brewpub, maybe something happened in bottling. Would give it another shot on tap.

Big thanks to yourefragile for sharing this one. Served in a SAVOR wine glass.

Pours a nice dark brown verging on black with a bit of a tan head and a collar as that settles. The nose brings quite a bit of vanilla along with a bit of roasted malt. Really heavy vanilla in the flavor; some roast and chocolate in the background. Light body with a bit of a bite through the finish. Quite light, but the vanilla works.

Beer currently on nitro-tap at Franklin's who is really bringing the tasty these days. This beer is not a vanilla bomb but you wouldn't miss it. You definitely think "vanilla" when you drink this beer, but it is not cloyingly sweet or overwhelming. The base beer comes through and would be a treat without the vanilla. The vanilla acts to accentuate the beer nicely, bringing a more floral palate and a cleaner, smoother flavor to the whole thing.

Beer is black / dark brown, mostly clear, brown head, small bubbles, lots of lacing, served in a pint glass.

Aroma is sweet, mild sugar, some vanilla, smells great.

Beer is medium bodied and really smooth. Sweetness from the malt up front, mild bitterness at the back, creamy mouthfeel with this hint of vanilla on the forward and midpalate of the beer. Really elevated beer here. Super smooth, really nice. I really enjoyed it.
