Pours amberish red in color. Fruity nose with some grain malts and dark fruits. Taste is grainy malts up front that move to some fruity Belgian yeast flavors. Rounded out with some more grain malts. Pretty decent mouth feel. Overall, this was okay, worth a shot.

Served in a tulip glass at the Clybourn brewpub.
I chose this saison over Shine On at the behest of one of the bartenders. Here's hopin'... It pours a clear dark ruby topped by a finger or so of wan tan foam. The nose comprises plum skin, light red wine, light toasted wheat, black pepper, clove, and a touch of freshly-mowed grass. The taste holds notes of tannic plum skin, light blood orange peel, clove, darkly-toasted wheat, black pepper, and chlorophyll. Things just came across too tannnic-ly bitter, too un-saison for me to really enjoy things. The body is a light medium, with a very light moderate carbonation and a sorta slick feel. Overall, the kinda odd flavors and lack of pretty much any saison character took too much away from whatever this is for it to be my cup o' tea.

From the Chef Collaboration Series...described as a Red Saison
A - I was taken back by the appearance of the beer...it had a darker shade of rose colored body...the head was small and off white in color...it settled to a thin ring and didn't leave too much lacing
S - Again, take back by the aroma...some fruity notes coming out...it wasn't just from fruit, there were some hops adding to the fruitiness...the Saison "funk" you would expect was minimal
T - The flavors presented themselves again as fruity...I was able to pick up some very light citrus notes...dark fruits were also able to be detected...the "funk" stood out more with a slight spiciness and a more overpowering hay/grain/bread flavor...the finish was hoppy with a grainy presence
M - Medium bodied...had some crisp notes...the finish was pretty good and came up refreshing at times
O - Wasn't sure how to take the news of a Red Saison, but it came out red...the addition of some bright hops made it more enjoyable for me as they subdued the Saison characteristics...an interesting brew but one was good enough for me
