Served on-draught at Goose Island Clybourn over Paddy's Day Weekend. Reviewed from notes. 4.6% ABV confirmed. Served into a 13 oz stange.

A: Pours a one finger white colour head. Soft froth. Nice thickness. Above average retention. Body colour is a predictable clear yellow. Vibrant. Very appealing - especially in a proper stange. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show.

Sm: Clean pilsner malts, bright fruit, pale malts, and I guess some light fruit character when I look for it - bright fruit/passionfruit. A mild strength aroma.

T/Mf: Clean crisp pilsner malts fill out the body. Good carbonation. Slight coarseness, yet still wet and refreshing. Bright muted fruit. Clean and pleasant. Light plum, perhaps. Maybe some tea-like notes. Light on the palate. Enjoyable. I quite like it in spite of its simplicity. Tasty flavorful stuff.

Dr: Drinkable and enjoyable. Not the best kolsch I've had - and far from traditional - but it'd be worth getting again. A solid little Kolsch from Goose Island. Hides its ABV well.

poured into a pint glass by the barkeep at olympic tavern.

Appearance: yellow bodied beer with 1 finger of dense white head that drops down to nearly nothing. Leaves a spotty lace on the side of the pint glass.

Smell: Mostly getting the Kolsh and lager notes from the nose. You know light malt profile thats kind of grainy and bready. As this beer warms up the oolong tea starts to show up and adds a nice earthy smell to the beer. I know this isnt a beer style that is meant the be drank warm, but for the sake of experimentation I wanted to see what would happen.

Taste: This beer tastes like a kolsh beer through and through, but the Oolong tea really makes a difference! It adds a really nice earthy profile to the beer like a premium oolong tea; it tastes just like the sweet earthy qualities from oolong! And just like in the nose, the tea flavors become more prevalent as the beer warms up.

Mouthfeel: light bodied beer with moderate carbonation levels. Crisp, refreshing, and drinkable.

Overall: I really think that Goose island did a great beer here and picked the perfect beer style(Kolsh) for the oolong tea to be infused/brewed into. I am a huge fan of oolong tea and I really could tell that it had a presence in the beer. Goose Island was successful in what they tried to do with this beer. They took a Kolsh beer which isnt a really exciting beer style and made it something special. Its the best Kolsh beer that I have ever drank. I could see this beer appealing to the BMC drinkers if they were given a pint without them knowing its snobby craft beer and it might even change the BMC mindset. Great beer for a hot day, honestly if this beer ever became available in a 6 pack I would probably make it my go to summer beer.
