Appearance: Served up a faded amber-hued body, barely hinting of pink and lightly hazed with a thin whitish head.
Smell: An aroma of malts predominately bready but with a very slight toasted grain accent. Cheerfully fruity hibiscus scent, atop the standard phenolic and estery notes.
Taste: Bready, toasty interplay of malts with a restrained sweetness as in comes the fruity, floral hibiscus taste, in addition to some orchard fruitiness and light herbal hops with a low bitterness. Growing peppery phenolic accent. Semi-dry finish with a lingering hibiscus flavor that fall short of crisp.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: Though what lies beneath the addition of hibiscus is not the best example of a saison, it is still nice to see the use of hibiscus just the same.
