I had this on tap at the brewery on 1/18/13. Was told by a bartender that it is a ginger wheat ale.
A: Clear golden-straw color with little, white-colored head. I prefer more head on beer, but this had enough to convey some nice aroma.
S: Candied ginger all the way. Too one-dimensional!
T: Candied ginger, some cane sugar, chili pepper possibly? Ginger is fairly strong in this one - nice! Hard to tell if the warming qualities of this beer are from just the ginger, they could be, but I thought I tasted a little pepper heat. Almost cloyingly sweet - big negative.
M: Warming and sweet
O: Too sweet, more heat/better attenuation to balance or remove it? I'm surprised this beer is only 5.6% considering the level of remaining sweetness. I opted to pour half a Founders Faux-liner Weisse into this beer to cut the sweetness. MUCH better!
