this founders is currently one of my top 3 favorites I have had so far out of the 10 i have tried. its a great drinking beer thats dark in color but does not drink too heavy. If you like a good stout i would highly recommend it. It comes in a 4 pack and after two you will be feeling good .

On tap back in Feb.

A - A little more lighter than normal bitters. More along the lines of a pale ale in color and missing some of that copper hue.

S - Hops up front. Floral and citrus notes.

T - Too hoppy to be a traditional bitter. Not quite sure if this is caused by Founders house yeast or what. I've had a few of their bitters over the years and find that they are more pale ales than ESB or traditional english bitters.

M - A little too carbonated for my liking. Once again, would be easy drinking for someone looking for a Pale Ale.

O - Let down. I was looking for more of something along the lines of Fullers, Boddingtons, or the Breckenridge ESB that puts a real emphasis on a heavy, creamy malt base. This was, instead, a little too hoppy for my pallet.

Pours a clear orange /amber with two finger of off-white head. Head has good retention and leaves nice lacing. Aromas of biscuit malt, bread, toasted grain and florals. Taste is similar with a nice hop presence. Mouthfeel is light and crisp with dry bitter finish. Overall, a very tasty esb that drinks nicely.

Another growler shared by siege06nd. It poured a dark amber almost caramel color with a thin but bubbly white head to it.

The aroma shows some pale, crisp fruits to it with notes of both apple and pear to it. Some sweeter, bready and modest caramel flavors come out in it as well.

The taste has the crisp, tart fruit like flavors showing up throughout the flavor. I get some notes of Pale, grainy malts mixing with some apple and grape flavors. It shows a little more tartness in the finish with some herbal spiciness to it. A little of the caramel is there as well.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with carbonation being moderate. Overall it was a pretty solid beer of the style. It was flavorful, drinkable and well balanced.

On tap at Founders last week. Reviewed from notes.

Pours a medium amber color with a good off-white head and nice lacing on the way down. The nose carries a bit of biscuit and bready malt with some earthy hops. Slight floral presence as well. Flavor has good malt backing and a faint hop presence. Light body with good carbonation. Solid brew.

This beer is a golden-tan color. It has a pleasing malt biscuit aroma and a pleasant biscuitty malt flavor, at once crisp, sharp and mellow. One of the better bitters I’ve had in recent memory and deliciously sessionable. It plays well even as it warms with this wonderful honey sweetness that complements the toasted biscuit. Suitable for cask conditioning, I imagine. Loved it.

Clear ad amber. No lacing or head to speak of. Very interesting aroma for a bitter. More fruity including grapefruit and banana. Medium body and light to medium carbonation. This bitter seems true to the style except for a slightly hoppy-er kick than other bitters. Fairly unique and definitely one of the better beers.
