500 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep orange amber/light copper color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy light pink head with solid retention, that reduces to a minimal spotty lace cap that lingers. Minimal lacing with some clinging bubbles and streaming carbonation. Good appearance. Aromas of juicy/tart/tangy cherries, raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, plum, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, brown sugar, and toasted bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, cherries, oak barrels, and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big juicy/tart/tangy cherries, raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, plum, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, brown sugar, and toasted bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and light yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour cherries, raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, plum, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, brown sugar, toasted bread, light pepper/funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, cherries, oak barrels, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and yeast/oak spiciness balance; with minimal puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and yeast/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a smooth, moderately grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a very nice Flanders red style. All around nice fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, cherries, oak barrels, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth, easy, and fairly crisp to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish, not overly lactic. Maybe just a touch too vinegary than I would have preferred, but not overwhelming. Well balanced Brett/bacteria complexity and juicy/jammy cherries; with nice oak presence and solid malt backbone against acidity. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.

a unique beer here, thinking its oak aged, and thinking there has to be cherries in it, although i know next to nothing about it in terms of specifics. its ugly to look at though, milky thick and hazy, slightly pink, but pale for something called a flanders red, and without a lot of head on it or any real carbonation thats visible. it smells outstanding though, plenty of lactic sourness, as well as a fruity pucker that to me smells and tastes like pie cherries without mistake, although i have no clue if there is any real fruit in here or if its a trick of malt and yeast. i think it has some wood too, because its so much more mellow than the classic vinegar harsh flanders red types, more well integrated and that might explain some of the haze as well. its a tricky beer to understand though, and as a flanders red, i think its a poor example of the style. as a fruity sour, its top notch though, really distinct in its yeast character and although it doesnt look real nice, its a delicious beer overall. i wish i lived in a place that distributed thirsty dog beer, i have really enjoyed all of them that i have tried. if you dont have any notion of what this should be like and drink it with an open mind, i think you will really enjoy it...

On tap in a 12 oz snifter. Pours deep amber with little to no head. Little funk smell. Well balanced funk throughout that doesn't linger long. Light bodied with high carbonation.

Muddy reddish-brown, pungent but sharp notes of orange and cherry introduce smoky oak that's nearing acetic acidity. The crisp froth has a semi-dry tingle and, as it warms, the sourness fades slightly, and caramel apple becomes a driving flavor.

Pours a deep ruby hue, with an incredibly sour aroma. On the palate, the sourness is brash and rather unpleasant, and a salty aftertaste reminiscent of a gose predominates the finish.
