My first question was whether Bitch'n Berry would be brewed to a Belgian design. The answer is that this ale is built on an American style pale or golden ale with a generous berry infusion. Four hundred pounds of locally grown raspberries are pasteurized then added whole during fermentation.
The berries entirely dominate the beer. Even as the barmaid was pouring it, I noted the rich magenta color. Bringing the beer to your nose is like stepping into a berry patch. The aroma of fresh berries is dominant and unrelenting. Likewise, the taste is dictated by the fruit. The customary contributions of hops and malts are hardly detectible. Instead, the beer would seem to share more in common with pink lemonade for its color, its dilute body, and its sweet yet tart fruitiness.
Given the inescapable profusion of raspberries in this ale, I'd say that if you're in tune to a raspberry flavored ale, you'll find Bitch'n Berry to your liking.
