On tap at Surly’s Beer Hall. Served in a 10 oz. chalice.
Appearance: Color is a bright golden orange. Moderate amount of bubbles and a solid finger of white head that settles into a thin patchy layer.
Smell: A spicy and juicy Belgian style aroma with a scent of Belgian yeast and citrus. Belgian yeast with a scent of clove, peppers, and funk. Good hints of chamomile tea. Citrus hints of orange and lemon zest. Malt hints of wheat, grains, cracker, and biscuit. A pretty solid aroma.
Taste: Like the smell hints at, a spicy and juicy Belgian style taste with notes of yeast and citrus hops. Belgian yeast with notes of peppers, clove, and funk. Some nice notes of chamomile tea. Citrus hop notes of orange peel and lemon zest. Malt notes of wheat, grains, biscuit, and cracker. A very good taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, juicy, and drying.
Overall: A very good take on a Belgian style Pale Ale. The chamomile is a nice touch to the yeast and citrus notes.
