Your weekly Screen Time report is in, and it says you should put your phone down and enjoy this super satisfying, double dry-hopped pale ale. Generously hopped with Simcoe and Centennial hops for a huge hit of citrus pith, floral grapefruit, and piney flavor, there’s no such thing as too much Screen Time.

Huge frothy pour, pale straw color
Mainly pine in the nose
Orange rind, green pepper, dry finish
Medium mouthfeel
This was just fine, and I might be able to pick it out of a lineup as a Surly but I don't think I could pick it out of a lineup of Surlys.

Can is probably a bit old. Large off white head. Lace. Cloudy burnt gold.
Kind of tastes like a hoppy English pale ale, which I like. Floral, bready, piney, resiny, and some citrus. Guessing it wasn’t intended to be this malty, but I am still enjoying it with the bitter finish.

From a 12oz can:
Appearance: Clear yellow-gold, ok head.
Smell: Strong danky aroma.
Taste: Solid citrus kick, moderate bitterness throughout, finishes dry.
Overall: Nice little west coast style pale ale, good bitterness and strong aroma. Light bodied.

03/18/21 canned on date. Poured into a shake pint.
A: Hazy gold with 1-2finger off-white, foamy head with average lacing and decent retention.
S: Aroma is white grapefruit pith and lemon with soft low Lovibond caramel malt note
T: Flavor is below-average with muddle slightly astringent hop character that includes mostly lemon, grapefruit, and herbal grassy notes that don't land that well with the light caramel malt note. Esters are low-moderate and fruity/herbal with moderate bitterness.
M: Feel is middle of the road with light body with moderate carbonation and medium-dry finish.
O: I wouldn't waste your time with Screen Time - pretty disappointing effort although on the old side so maybe that's the problem but I don't think it is.

12 fl oz can:
"Double dry-hopped pale ale." 5.5% ABV.
Sticky resins and oily pine from Centennial dominate, but Centennial hops aren't as pungent in this ale as they are in something like Bell's Two Hearted. Pithy bitterness, overripe fruit peel, and muted citrus fill out the rest of the hop profile. I don't get any oniony/garlicky/allicin-redolent flavours from the Simcoe.
It's a simplistic enjoyable pale ale from Surly, but I can't say I'd buy it over something like Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale. Drinkable but not dazzling.

12oz can. Poured out a slightly hazy, golden orange color with a small, head of off-white foam. It left thin rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of orange rind, grapefruit, guava and sweet caramel notes. Nice tropical fruit punch with a mild piney bitterness and toasted caramel finish.

Happy to be the first review:
Appearance: Pours a mostly clear, medium and rich orange color with a soft white head. SRM of 8. (3.75)
Aroma: Strong aromas of orange, grapefruit, flower upfront. Hints of herbs. The orange is mostly mandarin orange and some tropical. Mostly sweet orange and flower on the aroma with some grapefruit pith. (4.00)
Flavor: The flavor follows with moderate flavors of orange and tropical berry upfront. Then some grapefruit pith and some flower. There's a rather strong grapefruit pith flavor to it. It also has a flowery and yeasty component that allows it to finish cleansing and dry on the tongue. (4.00)
Feel: Medium to heavier bodied. Moderate carbonation. Leans sweeter but also matches it with flavor. (3.75)
Compared to Toppling Goliath's PseudoSue 4/18/21: Pours a darker color. More sweet orange upfront. More orange, grapefruit pith flower, and tropical berry. Less lemon and pineapple (Maybe a batch of PseudoSue because I thought Screen Time was better this time)
Overall: A pretty good and juicy pale ale. Mostly orange, grapefruit pith, tropical berry flavors. Sort of reminds me of a milder, but also juicier version of Founders Centennial IPA. Has similar tropical berry flavors. For a pale ale, I think this was quite good. (Final Rating: 3.91)
