200ml pour from the tap at Mikkeller Bar SF 8/4/14 from notes
A clear amber with some fine particles and a few slow bubbles popping up here and there, top filled glass but manages to leave a thick collar of lace
S lots of caramel, apple, plum, cherry, brown sugar, oak, honey, vinous notes are faint, more caramel and a hint of booze but I'd never guess this ones hiding a monster
T more booze and barrel in the mouth, not quite the levels of caramel but still plenty of fruit, missing just a little something the nose had going for it
M thick, a little heat but I'd never guess how strong it actually is, oily, low carbonation but far from flat, numbs the lips just a little as they stick together
O a well made little monster, well hidden booze, enough going on to make it interesting, something different for a barrel, easy to drink for such a big boy
A quick stopover in San Fran I just had to check out the Mikkeller Bar and only had time for one so I just had to try the biggest beer on the menu. I'd like to try this again but I somehow doubt I'll get the chance, oh well.

On-tap at the Mikkeller bar in SF. 20cL fluted glass.
Clear golden. Very pleasant.
Hugely boozy. Cheap brandy. Fruit.
Whoah. So sweet. But yet....The alcohol is unmistakeable. The dry, white wine finish saves the beer from oppressive sweetness and drys out the mouthfeel with a clever yeastiness. Like fancy moonshine. Oppressively boozy. Lovely and interesting and immediately intoxicating.
Bland.
This is one crazy beer. Tentatively recommended...
