after trying several light colored lager types at mikkeller's new brewery in new york city, this one seemed like the least inspired, refined, and delicious to me, not that its bad, its still light and easy, a bit hoppier than most of the others i had, but with a slightly watery texture and a light metallic thing happening with the hop bitterness on the finish that i find to be just a little bit unflattering, especially as it warms up, not quite up to my high quality expectations i have with all mikkeller beer. ive heard some folks say that none of the beers out of new york have been amazing yet, i had a few i really loved so i disagree with that as a blanket statement, but this seems somewhat amateurish to me. the lagering is fine and the beer is clean on the yeast side, crisp even, but the lager yeast doesnt add much (if any) flavor to the mix here, so the light bittering hop and the slightly stale tasting pale malt base flavor this a whole lot, and its not an epic combination at all. slightly grassy, light citrus zest to it, dirty pennies, and minerals. overall not at all the best of the lagers in here, but its cool they are doing as many as they are. im sure this will improve in future batches....
