Grabbed a can of this and a host of others on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. This was described online as “This New England Style IPA brewed with Galaxy/Simcoe/Citra hops. Poured a medium yellow hazy color with three fingers of frothy white head. Plenty of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled Citra up front, followed by Galaxy and lesser Simcoe. Specifically got passion fruit, grapefruit, mango, peach, papaya and some earthy malt on the backend. More tropical than citrus. About as good from the can. (Smell - 3.50)
Taste was about as good. More Simcoe than the nose. In order got a mix of Galaxy, Citra and Simcoe, more balanced than the nose. Also passion fruit, peach, mango, grapefruit, papaya, pineapple, pine, peppery spice and some earthy malt. (Taste - 3.50)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Abrupt finish. (Feel - 3.75)
Good overall, but no need to have this again. (Overall - 3.75)

Mikkeller Brewing San Diego "Haze Cowboy"
one pint can. Born on date is illegible.
$4.39 @ Kindred Spirits & Wine, Fairfield, CT
Notes via stream of consciousness: Ohhhh, I can see chunks floating in this. White chunks, which I'm assuming are yeast. It's a cloudy golden beneath a standard sized head of densely foam white. The head seems to be holding well. Aroma? Limited, but with some malt and citrus. What else is there?... unfortunately not much. There may be an otherwise tropical fruitiness beyond the citrus but nothing really stands out. It's a limited aroma, what can I say? And this is called what, "Haze Cowboy"? Mmm,kay. On to the flavor... that's better, but it's still nothing fantastic. I'm getting apple, orange/tangerine, lemon/lime, pine, a touch of peach/apricot, and some guava. Ahhh, throw some papaya in there as well, and some dragon fruit. What about passion fruit? Nope. Pineapple? No, not really, maybe just a bit underlying that doesn't really come out. There is something there though, something minor that I can't really figure out. It's a little like mint of tarragon I guess. That's probably the most interesting thing to me about this beer. The malt is wheaty, and a touch oat-like. It's got a median bitterness and it finishes fairly dry. Not a whole lot lingers in the after taste; it's kind of a generic tropical fruitiness. Nice burp though. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp. I could take this one or leave this one. It's nicely brewed and rounded and balanced and all of that, but it's just another hazy-tropical IPA in what seems like a never-ending stream of hazy-tropical IPAs.
