While I like to add lagers, I won't add what I just drank: it is the same 5% ABV brew without the Yuzu. (In truth, I've had Yuzu in several beers before, but it was not memorable.) So why fuss?
My 16 ounce can bought from Mikkeller & Friends Bottle Shop in Norreport Looks the part of a rice lager after a moderately hard pour; blonde with big bubbles that leg down the glass. Smells are subtle, consistent with style, but also lack character. Tastes are well-balanced with the hops entering mid-palate and lingering in the finish. Medium-mouthed for a light style.
I give generous Overall Hugs for two reasons. First, the beer went well with a Thai dinner. More than brewed rice complementing the cooked rice, the curry spices seemed enhanced by the herbal hops. This lager's soft-mouth also helped calm the palate from the spices. Second, it's Mikkeller. Their genius keeps repeating itself. After Yuzu, Mikkeller goes back to the same brewer (deBroef, who doesn't specialize in lagers at all), and they make Mikkeller magic again. Proost !
