12oz glass at Underground, pre-Mikkeller tap takeover. Made with elderberries.

This beer appears a hazy, dark pinkish brown hue, with one finger of flatly puffy tightly bubbly pale pink head, which leaves some nice scattered snow rime lace around the glass as things seep away.

It smells of mildly bitter citrus - watery lemon, orange, and grapefruit rind - some further dark black fruit, tame grainy pale malt, soft earthy yeast, a hint of white pepper, and a musty, leafy hoppiness. The taste is much more floral, the citrus from the nose severely dropping off, the graininess becoming more assertive, with some soft dark berry fruitiness, the yeast holding fast, and a certain lavender-heavy neutered perfume essence wafting about.

The carbonation is light and a tad frizzy, the body medium-light in weight, and mostly smooth. It finishes off-dry, barely, as the pale malt and fruit both have a short distance to fall.

An easy enough to drink, and moderately refreshing fruit-tinged saison, as the base beer plays a very restrained and coy number. Would work well in throes of a summer patio session, or after running for ten kilometers, apparently.
