Collaboration with El Segundo Brewing.

A classic West Coast style IPA brewed with our Beer Buddies from El Segundo Brewing. This beer will have a full body with a clean, dry finish. Expect balanced bitterness with aromas and flavors of fresh citrus, specifically tangerine, berries, tropical fruit and loads of pine.

Had Rachel pick me up this at Trader Joe’s with some other stuff. Online description was “A classic West Coast style IPA brewed with our Beer Buddies from El Segundo Brewing. This beer will have a full body with a clean, dry finish. Expect balanced bitterness with aromas and flavors of fresh citrus, specifically tangerine, berries, tropical fruit and loads of pine.” Hops mentioned were Strata, Taiheke (New Zealand Cascade) and Mosaic.

Poured a medium yellow clear color with seven fingers of rocky uneven white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom and sides of the glass at different speeds. Perfect uneven spiderweb foamy lacing. Perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 5.00)

Smelled herbal, menthol, pine, lemon zest, dish soap, tropical fruit, mixed berry, and grapefruit rind. For mentioned hops Strata and Cascade (Taiheke) really jumped out as I wasn’t getting much Mosaic. Was better out of the can. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted a tad better than the nose with Mosaic coming in. Got herbal, menthol, pine, Strata, lemon zest, dish soap, Cascade, tropical fruit, mixed berry, Mosaic, floral, mango and grapefruit rind. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 4.25)

An outstanding IPA by Pizza Port and El Segundo. Glad I picked up a can. I may grab a 6-pack later. (Overall - 4.00)

Pours just the way a west coast beer should, clear and capped by foam. I get some tangerine squeezed along with a spicy note on the palate, a nice citrusy-pineapple blend. Drying finish, with some noticeable bitterness.

This one is called Rippin’ Bear and there is a picture of a bear surfing on the can. That’s cool, but I don’t think this beer is that cool. Don’t get the Raul man wrong, it’s a fine beer for what it is. But I think a bear playing chess or “rippin’” at a spelling bee would be more appropriate for the beer art.

See ya.

Ok offering from Pizza Port but since I had just had a Disciple of Fu, it sorta paled (no pun intended) in comparison. I drank it from the can so I can't attest to the looks but had a decent sense of resiny hop with some mild citrus like tangelo on both the aroma and the palate. Finished with nice balanced bitterness.

Can from Uptown Market.

A clear orange with a dense white head with good retention and lacing this looks solid. The nose opens surprisingly muted with a citrus and mild pine hop character, a light grainy note. There's mild grapefruit peel and flesh. The palate opens light, with a mild hop bitterness with pine and some grapefruit.
