This one pours a very dark and deep black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like spicy burnt oak, chocolate fudge, heavy bourbon, toasted nuts, vanilla, roasted malt, and booze. This is such an evocative and impressive aroma here.

This has such a big spicy barrel character going on here, it's wonderful. It's only lightly boozy, but still a lot of barrel oak, toast, spice, vanilla, and bourbon, with a chewy chocolatey base. There's also bitter herbal darkness going on as well, and some espresso too.

This is thick and chewy, and just big and beefy and wonderful, with a good level of drinkability despite the huge ABV.

The Black Magick base just creates some absolutely mind blowing barrel-aged beers. These beers can rarely be beat.

Bottle #723

Overall I am very happy to have to finally tried this beer. But that only makes it all the more disappointing that the beers I traded for it possess considerably more depth and quality without the hype. The nose on this was really the only highlight. Still a good beer and a treat, however; it's quality is no where near the hype and secondary value it commands. Hype, weak sauce.

Bottle #696 into mini snifter.

Pitch black with minimal, if any, foam around the edge of glass which quickly dissipates. Smell is of wonderful bourbon sweetness. Oaky. Nutty. All of which translates into the flavors. It's like Bourbon County Brand Stout on steroids. The barrel sweetness with that chocolate and oakiness is in your face. Boozy. Great sticky thick mouthfeel. Aboslutely awesome.

I've had the Rye (black wax), Old Forester (green) and Buffalo Trace b2 (blue) Black Magick, and this one (silver wax) takes the cake as the best (although all are very high quality).

L - not over the moon on the appearance here. Pretty standard stout pour. The head is fizzy looking more so than frothy looking.

S - massive massive bourbon. Loads of brown sugar and molasses. Dark fruit and roasty malt but gdamn the brown sugar and molasses is decadent. Subtle vanilla. Subtle oak.

T - damn. This might be the best barrel aged stout I've ever had. It's simple and pure. It's just loads of rich malty bourbony roasty goodness. Potent and decadent and way over the top. There so much barrel on this, the oak is just an explosion . The brown sugar flavors are massive. There's toffee and cream like a bailey's liquor of a beer. The roast balance is perfect, with just the right char to keep the huge sweetness from becoming too much.

M - big and full. Washes around with a frothy chewiness and though quite highly carbonated, doesn't feel volatile or prickly. It coats every nook and cranny of your mouth and clings to it with flavor long after each sip.

O - I've landed a few voodoo barrel room beers and while usually solid, I generally don't consider them on par with their hype/status and usually trade them away. I simply have a hard time drinkin a single beer when I could trade down for quantity of quality beer. This may be one of the few that I don't trade however.

2018 release aged 28 months in willet barrels. Still young with a little booziness. I’m sure I’d give this a 5. Thick cloying, oily mouthfeel. Lots of bourbon notes with molasses, cocoa, caramel and a little Smokey. Awesome beer that will get better with a little age.

The brew appears black in color with a khaki head that fades leaving stringy lace.

It is roasty across the nose with hints of coffee and earthen char and hints of vanilla/chocolate.

It tastes of bakers chocolate, rich and earthy with espresso-like coffee, vanilla sweetness and finushes with a bit of solvent boozy aspect.

This is full bodied and modestly carbonated. A very rich and coating brew that not only lives up to the black magick lineage but exceeds in ways I didnt think possible. This feels like they injected chocolate, vanilla and coffee into it...yet it didnt have those adjuncts added. Phenomenal
