I tried this at the Roanoke, VA location and was very impressed. It poured a clear golden with thin white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had hints of tropical fruit peel. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with malt base and citrus hop presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a solid beer.

Pours a Franks Red Hot shade of orange, with an insanely bitchin amount of sediment. This is a real beer ladies and gentlemen. Aroma is very strong, tantalizing citrus and tropical fruits. The taste is where the train runs off the tracks. It tastes like a watered down version of the smell if that makes sense. Still has the citrus, it’s just not as strong. Mouthfeel pops.

It’s a decent beer but the taste fails to live up to the incredible look and aroma.

Pours a very pale yellow for an IPA. Smell is overwhelmed by malt- more than I’m looking for in a hop forward beer. Pineapple, mango, and a hint of pine in there as well. Tastes more like a pale ale. Very malt forward. Goes down smooth, very creamy with less carbonation than expected. I am a big starr Hill fan, and love northern lights. This, however is a big disappointment. I think they made it to appease people who say they like craft beer but really enjoy BL. Nothing wrong with that, but not for 10.99 a 6 pack. Hoping my girlfriend will drink the other 5.

Pours a light orange, hazy but not thick cloudy, and not much in the way of a head, just a little while lacing. Smell is lightly pineapple, orange, and grapefruit. Taste is rather juicy, mango, pineapple, orange, grapefruit pith, hint of a malt backbone, and just enough of a hop bite to remind you it is an IPA. Medium light body, fine carbonation. Nicely balanced beer, all the traits of a NEIPA and yet not. Certainly not as filling as one.

Bottled on 03/26/19. Poured into a Duvel tulip.

Hazy golden with short lived 1-finger foamy eggshell head with a single stripe of intricate lacing.

Grapefruit, pineapple, and passion fruit give a fruit punch impression infused with lemongrass herbal notes. The aroma is a little subdued for the style.

Flavor is also tropical fruity with more citrus lime, orange and grapefruit in addition to the pineapple, guava, and mango. Bitterness is low.

Feel is soft with medium body and low carbonation.

Enjoyable but could use a little bit more on the aroma front.

Maybe just past straw colored and just about see through with a slight white head. Scent is of tropical fruits with hints of grapefruit and pineapple, no malt to speak of detected on the nose. Pleasant enough citrus ipa flavor with less bitterness, I’d call it slightly astringent on the end. Less carbonation with more body than it looks. I’d call it medium. Just nothing to grab me with this IPA. I wish it was more juicy or flavorful.

Starr Hill Brewery "Looking Glass IPA"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "PKG ON 01/17/18C"

Notes via stream of consciousness: "...big hop aroma and flavor with minimal bitterness.", that sounds like a New England-style IPA to me. And it looks like it with a very hazy but not quite cloudy golden/light orange body beneath a short head of creamy bright white. Tiny particles are visible in suspension if you hold it to the light. The aroma expresses tropical fruit with just a touch of resinous character. Pineapple and orange seem to dominate. The flavor follows and it's actually quite juicy, more so than the aroma in fact. There's a greater variety of fruit to it with notes of mango, passion fruit, and a hint of berry. It's definitely not that bitter but neither is it sweet, and there's some hop "burn" in the finish from all of the acids that helps to balance it. One of the flaws to this type of beer is having too much malt that dulls it and weighs it down but that's certainly not the case here. I'd call it medium-light in body, almost light-medium, and it's smooth and silky. The carbonation of course helps as it's moderate and very fine-bubbled with just enough zest to lend a light bristle to the tongue before warming to become softer. Overall it's really quite well done, and very nicely balanced. Ahh, I almost forgot, the head didn't hold up too well, and thus there wasn't as much lacing either. If that's it's only fault I can live with it. Worth trying.

Golden yellow in color with light haze and a 2 finger whitish head that leaves good lacing.

Aroma of pineapple and mango with a hint of caramel. Very fruity.

Light citrus with grapefruit rind in the taste. Light pineapple and mango.

Medium bodied, decent bite and good retention. Drying.

The fruit definitely comes through more in the aroma than the taste, but it's an all around good beer. There's bitterness, but it's laid back, not overpowering.
