Dark amber with leggy ivory. 3.75
Some candied orange with deep honey. 3.5
Thread of spun sugar, a ton orange canned orange slices, pine sap and burnt grass. 3.75
Round, sticky, almost medium. 4
Blast of citrus, smooth, and buries the ABV. But almost one note, and with some oxidation (which, considering 11th is out already, can't be a shock.) An old school DIPA that could be fresher. 4

Poured a golden honey color with a 3F head in a Tulip glass. Nice looking beer. Took a while to resolve.
The aroma is stronger with warming. Sweet, intense pine.
MF: excellent. Smooth and creamy unlike most DIPAs.
Taste: superb. Intense pine, sweet, malty with a very hoppy finish balanced with a smooth creamy MF.
This is a stand out DIPA. A Tulip is best for a full flavor experience. The balance between the deep pine, sweetness, and creamy, smooth MF IS excellent.

Cloudy, amber to brown color. Lasting, but small head. Nice streaks and semi-blanketing effect after the initial ring of lace.
Fresh green hop start to the smell but I get some residual cardboard. A touch berry and flowers.
Rich body gives the malt a chance in the tasting but the hop bomb comes quickly and strongly. The aftertaste goes forever. I get some alcohol warmth in the finish.

22 oz bottle, 10 year anniversary ale. Pours slightly hazy copper gold with a big creamy white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is subdued - some sweet malt, a little fruit and piney peppery hops.
The flavor is a little sweet caramel malt and fruit followed by a lot of fairly harsh tarry piney resiny hops with a lingering bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a bit of an abrasive hop bomb, but decent.

Crystal-clear golden hued body; nice amount of carbonation; thick, rocky, white head; bits of lacing along the glass. Rather faint pine tar aroma; some heavy malt grain sweetness. The taste is fairly low-key, as well; some typical West Coast IPA sweetness and a large hop bitterness, but little alcohol for an 11.0% ABV. Heavy body; slightly prickly on the tongue; initial sweetness with a somewhat dry finish.
There was no dating on the bottle and I suppose, for an IIPA, it's past its prime, yet I still would imagine a bigger aroma and taste presence than what I experienced with this tasting. This is a good IPA overall, and definitely lets you know that there is (was) a huge hop presence, yet everything has really mellowed out. Well, better late than never...

Poured an amber/golden orange with a nice head that left ton of lacing. Aromas and flavors of orange marmalade, mango, pine, stone fruit, and even some pineapple which is nice and sweet. Slightly oily and creamy mouthfeel with a lingering bitterness that isn't too harsh. A good sipper and the 11% is surprisingly well hidden.

Moderate Bready and biscuity malt aroma, with floral, citrusy (grapefruit), and resiny hop flavors, melon, metallic (aluminum) off-aroma.
High caramel and toasted English muffin malt flavor, high hop flavor, including grassy, resiny, earthy. Bitterness is absurdly high, but is moderated by the high malt presenece. Low orange peel fruitiness.
Finishes bitter, with competing sweetness lingering for a few seconds. A low perfume alcohol flavor present.
High carbonation, moderate-low astringency.

Handsome golden yellow brew with white foam rising in the Zunft Kölsch glass. Quite tangy on the tongue, I'd call it acidic, really. Aromas of pine and grapefruit peel. Flavors of lemon and orange with that hot alcohol taste.
Hot and zingy, makes for a nice late evening sip. If this is really a year old, it has lasted very well. Maybe the hop aromatics stay pickled in the alcohol. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Barons Market on West Point Loma.

Type: 22-oz. bottle
Glass: Beer Nerd tulip glass
From: BevMo in La Mesa (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $7.49
Purchased: June 8, 2016
Consumed: June 11, 2016
Misc.: No BOD on the bottle
A huge fan of this brewery (No. 4 all-time for me) and a big fan of the previous Port Anniversary beers (4.16 for the sixth anniversary, 4.00 for the seventh and 3.79 for the eighth), so hoping this one is just as good (and doesn’t continue the downward trend). This is 11 percent ABV as opposed to 10 percent like the other ones I tried.
Poured an amber copper semi-clear color with four fingers of rocky, white head. Didn’t get the usual Port gushing pour. Could just barely see some bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Outstanding foamy lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled Cascade, Simcoe, pine, Citra, floral, tropical, mango, peach, orange blossom and some caramel malts. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted orange peel, tropical, pine, Citra, tangerine rind, orange blossom, floral, mango, Simcoe, Amarillo, hints of Nugget, sweetened iced tea and light stone fruit. Sipping easy for 11 percent. (Taste - 4.25
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.50)
This was another good offering from Port. Would recommend to anyone who likes double IPAs. (Overall - 4.25)

What a difference a year makes. One of my favorite beers last year, huge citrus and pine bitter bomb. Not this one. Pour is clear, ugly golden average looking pale. Man I hate that mediocre look, like everyone else's ipa. Smells ok, malty and bitter, but again, not quite as good as last years. Taste is juicy and herbal, and it's actually too dank, which kills the bitterness for me. Mouthfeel is lousy, flat. Overall huge disappointment, as this was my goto beer last summer. Port needs to get back to what they do best, not Hop Concept beers.

Pours a deep golden amber color. Nose is oranges, pineapple. Taste is similar with pineapple being the dominant flavor. Finishes with a good amount of resin. Light carbonation. Chewy. Booze is noticeable but not overly so. Overall, a pretty good DIPA that is a little heavy on the malt. Wish for a little more balance.

A: Clear gold/pale amber, creamy 2 finger head, good retention, minimal lacing.
AR: Citrus and tropical fruit: grapefruit, guava, mango, subtle malt backbone, cirtus zest, resin.
T: Dank hops up front, follows nose in the middle, lingering resinuos bitter hop finish.
M: Medium body, medium carbonation, mostly dry w/ a slightly sticky finish.
Solid. Would love a little more fruit on the palate, but I can't complain. This beer delivers across the spectrum.
