Served in a small brandy snifter. One finger off white head. It leaves a nice first ring of lace, spots and streaks thereafter.
Very sweet smell, like brown sugar saturated in tepid water. Similar to a barley wine.
The brown sugar dominates the taste throughout. Alcohol shows in the swallow. Thick body but with enough carbonation to cut it but not enough to diminish the heavy maltose flavors. Warming finish with a short, sweet aftertaste.

On tap at CBC. Dark amber. Lovely bourbon aromas, really quite nice. Flavor was like a shot of bourbon, no squash and no beer. :( Overall, glad I ordered porter.

Serving: On tap in a snifter
Served: 4 October 2014
Appearance: Pours a hazy light brown with a soft dirty brown head. Looks nice and full bodied and has a good depth of color.
Smell: Sweet caramel smells, vanilla from the bourbon and the oak.
Taste: Truly magnificent taste here- nice soft and somewhat crisp flavors from the malts in the beer, lending good notes of gooey caramel, clover honey, or English toffee. The bourbon barrels here were used marvelously, lending really nice notes of vanilla sweetness without adding any heat or boozy liquor notes.
Feel: Soft and full-bodied on the palate. The squash probably smooths the body a bit.
Overall: A really great beer by CBC, and one I would highly recommend while they have it this fall.
