Serving: On tap, at the brewpub
Served: 8 May 2015
Appearance: Pours a dark brown, similar to Trois Pistoles or other Brown Dark Ales. Definitely much darker than your standard saison, due to the addition of the chocolate malt. Looks like CBC just wants to mess around with styles and malts these days (see Übergang! review)! It works though, and makes for one inviting Belgian-style ale.
Smell: Soft bready malts, sweet caramel, overripe banana, and a pinch of grassy hoppiness.
Taste: Similar to the smell- overripe bananas, sweet banana bread, dark bread, and a pinch of herbal hoppiness to crown the whole thing off. Finishes semi-sweet- just dry enough to not coat the palate in cloying sweet malts but not overly dry for the style either.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied in the mouth with medium-low carbonation makes this one really enjoyable. Body remains solid even as carbonation leaks out and beer warms.
Overall: Another great beer from CBC.
