A GABF winner. The beer is dark brown where light does not penetrate the edge of the glass. Larger head but it settles completely to rim bubbles. Some streaks and webs for lace.
Deep dark chocolate notes with a touch of chalk. Reminiscent of cold unsweetened cocoa.
Smooth body with tight-bubbled carbonation makes this a rich mouthfeel. A bit boozy with lots of warming alcohol. The semisweet cocoa dominates the flavor profile. There's some definitive hop bitterness to prevent this beer from becoming too cloy. Alcohol is still the most over-proportioned element here.
