On tap at the brewpub.
Pours a black/almost dark purple at times with a thin caramel colored head. Not much retention or lace was left but it did leave a nice sticky brown residue on the sides of the glass. The aroma is pretty much what you would expect from a Cherry Stout. A big tart blast of sour cherries that is backed by notes of chocolate and roast.
The taste is more of the same. Chewy chocolate sweetness and dark roasted malt character up front, followed by a pleasing flush of tangy cherries. There is a nice balance between the sweetness and the cherry tang but I would say that the overall flavor profile definitely favors that cherry punch. The mouthfeel is full bodied with a wonderful creamy feel.
Very nice. A love the blending of the cherry and roasted notes in the flavor profile to create a Cherry Stout that's got a little more oompth than most. While that may take away from the drinkibility somewhat, it definitely makes this one Fruit Stout to sip and savor.
